Anika

"Hey Illumi," I peep in, peering over his shoulder to the swarm of colorful flowers that begin to swarm my vision as we enter the garden. My eyes widen with childish excitement. "Are those lilacs?"

Illumi gazes down at me before drawing his attention to the purple flowers at the far right side of the garden, away from the manor. I used to love picking flowers with my older brother when I was little. Lilacs are my mother's favorite. While lilacs have a history with my family, my main intensions are to get Illumi somewhere private.

"I supposed," Illumi hums. It's quite evident that he finds nothing about this stroll amusing and frankly, it's quite hard making conversation. My plans for tonight have not gone entirely in the direction that I hoped but I can't let this chance go to waste.

Grabbing his hand I begin to skip in the direction of the lilacs, "Come, I wanna get a closer look!"

Illumi, while at first reluctant, follows along without saying anything. He doesn't say anything for a long time. We are both thinking, wondering what to say.

"Listen Illumi, I was thinking..." I trail off, eyeing a secluded part of the garden behind some bushes. My hand is still wrapped around his as I begin to walk in that direction.

"Anika, what are yo-"

"I want you," I come to a stop, letting go of his hand. The view of the manor is completely hidden from where we stand behind large bushes of flowers. Perfect.

"Ugh, Anika I think you got-"

I reach for my dress and slip the shoulder straps right off, letting it drop to my feet, revealing my lacy undergarments. Illumi's eyes widen but only slightly. It's enough of a reaction from him seeing as he always keeps his emotions hidden from the world. Deciding to take his expression as an indication to continue, I place my hand firmly against the muscles of his chest before trailing it all the way down to the buckle of his pants.

I reach for my dress and slip the straps right off, allowing it to fall to my feet, exposing my lacy undergarments. Illumi's eyes widen but only slightly. It's enough of an indication for me, seeing as he always keeps his emotions concealed, to continue. I plant my hands firmly upon the muscles of his chest before trailing it down to the clasp of his trousers. Just as I'm about to pull the buckle loose, there's a sudden crushing aura that hinders my senses. Illumi has gone rigid, his aura seeping out of him in waves.

"Did I give you the impression that I desired your filthy hands all over me?" he questions, cocking his head to the side. His face remains impassive, but his aura indicats that something different is going on up in his head.

I quickly draw my hands away and back up a few steps until my back brushes the large lilac bushes. Their smell, once sweet, is now sickly. "I-I'm sorry!" My heart begins racing, his very being in front of me becoming unbearable. It never registered how much power the Zoldyck family possessed.

Frankly, though, I don't believe him.

There's a complexity to Illumi I've had to adjust to. Understanding him is all about translating his words into what they truly mean since he seems to often mask his emotions. So, what I gather is his attempt to intimidate me is just a farce.

"I know you lost Mia, but I can help you forget her," I murmur, raising my eyebrows at him. Illumi sighs deeply, taking a step forward. "I mean, I don't mean to sound insensitive, but it's been some time since she killed herself and everyone needs you to move on."

"So you think throwing yourself at me is going to solve all my fucking problems?" he spits. He goes from calm to something like disgust and repuslion, as he looks at me like I've been tainted by a horrible plague. His words hit me right in the chest, igniting anger and frustration. I don't understand why he can't just admit that he wants me.

"I'm going to be married to you, the least you can do is show me some attention!" I remind him, folding my hands over my chest. Suddenly I feel exposed as a breeze hits my bare skin. "How are we supposed to be that loving couple everyone wants us to be if you just keep ignoring me?"

I quickly crouch forward and draw my dress back on. "You don't have to pretend that you don't want me. I'll be in my room when you suddenly decide to calm down," I retort, before turning and walking back in the direction of the manor.

Hours had passed since the events from the garden, and I couldn't get Illumi's words out of my head. It was nearing midnight, yet I stood leaning against the window sill staring off past the garden to the forest beyond the gates.

I never personally met Mia Hano, but I'd seen her from a distance on specific circumstances. If it weren't for the embedded resentment that my family held against the Hano's then I may have approached her. Even now, I can't muster any sort of remorse for her death.

It was finally my opportunity to shine, after being looked down on by my family for so long. Yet even in her death, Mia and her family have somehow managed to destroy the Akagi reputation. My hate for them only augmented.

Suddenly a knock at my door drew me out of my thoughts. My heart rate begins to quicken at the idea of Illumi coming back for me as I assumed he would. Skipping over to the door, I swing it open.

Illumi stands on the other side, leaning against the door frame. A smirk spread across my face at the sight of him. "Well, I'm certainly glad to see you," I hum, pulling the door entirely open for him to come in.

He steps in without a word.
