After muttering those few words everyone went silent. The severity of the situation finally dawned upon not only me but everyone else as well. It is something that I knew all along but refused to admit. Mia was in fact dying and from the looks of it she also knew all along. No words had to be spoken though, we all understood the situation.

Jun who sat on the other side of the table held her head low as her shoulders slowly began to shake. She was crying.

My eyes wandered from her all the way to Mia who sat beside me stiffly. She was visibly paling and avoided any eye contact by looking down at her lap. My attention once again shifted but this time to Mamoru who had left the room to go retrieve his woken daughter.

The sound of creaking floor boards sounded from behind the door that Mamoru had exited from. Despite not being able to see him, my eyes followed where I assumed Mamoru was walking. Soon enough he appeared at the door with a small being in his arms. It was a female child. A baby.

"She probably heard us talking and woke up" Mamoru said as he gazed down at the child in his arms. He placed a soft kiss on her small head before turning his attention to everyone in the room. His eyes hardened as he noticed the current state of both his crying wife and his awkwardly quiet sister. Quickly his eyes snapped in my direction, "What did you do?" he spat accusingly at me as if I had been the one to cause all this. Within seconds the room was completely filled with hostile nen that was clearly being emitted by him.

"I have done nothing wrong" I mumbled calmly, unfazed by his hostile approach. He sent me a long glare as he sat back down beside his wife who he then tried to comfort.

"Why are you crying?" He asked her softly as he ran his free hand up and down her back.

Jun looked at her husband and shook her head sadly before leaning her head on his shoulder. Jun kissed the top of her child's head and sighed deeply. Somehow Mamoru seemed to understand what Jun's actions were silently telling him and he let out a long frustrated sigh. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder and held her closely. By now his hostility had subsided until it had been completely replaced by a calming hum that rung throughout the entire house.

That was one of Mamoru's abilities. He was able to manipulate people's emotions and feelings. From the looks of it, it seemed to be working on his wife who stopped crying.

I turned my attention back to Mia who was quietly observing the couple just as I had been. Her gaze was mainly focused on the small child in Mamoru's arms which was in fact her niece. Her previously stiff posture was long gone as she watched the baby in wonder.

"Can I hold her?" She asked softly, perching up to the edge of her seat.

Mamoru glanced her way for a second before nodding his head. He got up and left his wife's side only to walk around the table and place the calm baby into Mia's outstretched arms. He stepped back and for a second watched the two before returning to his seat.

"We need to talk" he said seriously as he took his seat once more.

I nodded my head, "Yes that is what why we are sitting here on this table" I clearly stated the obvious.

Mamoru gave me a look before looking back over to Mia who was looking down at the baby in her arms. "I'm going to explain something to you that dad was never planning on telling you." he said carefully as he watched his sister. I sat up in my chair. That caught everyone's attention including my own. What was he talking about?
