Just a few rooms away, Jun was abruptly woken from her sleep at the sound of hysterical yelling. She quickly sprung to her feet and ran in the direction of the sound. She followed the sound all the way down the hallway until she reached one of the guest rooms.
The moment Jun barged into the room was the same moment that Mamoru was roughly thrown against the wall right beside the door. Without thinking, Jun rushed to her husband and protectively cradled him against her body.
Across the room two nen spirits stood and watched the couple. They did not proceed in further attacking Mamoru as he was no longer a threat to their master. Mia, who lay unconscious in the bathroom was vulnerable and the moment the spirits sensed that she was in some sort of danger in which where she was unable to defend herself, they materialized on their own.
The spirits lay under the scrutiny of Jun who was glaring at them from across the room. As Jun observed the two she began to notice a few features that were not very humanlike. Such as the fact that after you stared at them for a little while you could notice a shimmering transparentness to their form. She knew that they were not human.
"What's going on?" She asked nervously to no one in particular. She was not expecting an answer either as she was not sure if the ghost-like beings understood her and she knew that her husband who lay half unconscious in her arms probably did not hear her.
A booming sound could be heard from far away outside of the house which led the shaking of the house. Everything inside of the room they were invisibly swayed. It was as if an earthquake hit them.
"He has arrived" one of the spirits spoke. His voice was low and inhumane. To a certain extent it struck fear in Jun.
"Wh-Who has arrived?" Jun's eyes darted frantically between both ghosts. Her family was in this house and if any danger was approaching they would be in grave danger.
Without exchanging words, the other spirit approached the conjoined bathroom whose door was locked shut. With the swift movement of his hand, the door was ripped apart. The particles of wood that held the object together began to separate one by one and the once solid object almost seemed to disappear. If it wasn't for the traces of dust that fell onto the floor, Jun would have truly believed that the door disappeared from plain sight. Like magic.
As the door no longer blocked the view of the bathroom, Mia was now visibly laying on the tiled floor unconscious. Traces of blood could be seen covering the floor and the side of her head.
Jun's eyes widened and she quickly set her husband down before rushing over the ghost thing that was trying to pick up her sister-in-law.
"Get your hands off of her!!" Jun yelled. She reached out her hands in the attempt to push the being away from Mia but found that her hands passed directly through it.
"I would not advise you to stop me." The ghost said calmly as he held Mia's body close to his chest. Her head lay limply in the crook of his neck.
Jun began to panic, "Why are you doing this?" She pleaded, her eyes tearing.
Jun believed that the spirits were here to kidnap Mia. She did not realize that they were doing exactly the opposite. She did not realize that her very husband was the only threat in the room.
The spirit who had first spoken appeared behind Jun, "You do not pose a threat to our Master so we will not hurt you," he stated stoically.
The moment the words left his mouth was the same moment that realization dawned on Jun. She realized what these ghosts were.
"Y-You are Mia's guardians?" she asked in astonishment, "... the spirits that Marla sent down to protect her?" she watched the tall spirits in awe. The spirits, on the other hand, did not regard Jun at all. Their priority at the moment was to leave the house and bring their Master to safety.
"Please, at least tell me what is going on." Jun pleaded as soon as she realized that they were ignoring her, "Why did you hurt my husband if you are supposed to be on our side? Please! If something is wrong you have to tell me." she insisted. They did not listen though.
After collecting all of Mia's belongings they marched out of the room, walking right by Mamoru who was slowly coming back to his senses. He stirred on the floor, slowly waking.
Jun was not sure if she should run after the spirits or stay with her husband. Before anything, the sound of a baby beginning to cry rung through the hallways and Jun's decision became very clear to her. Her family came first.
"I'm sorry, Jun" Mamoru mumbled under his breathe as he struggled to pull himself off of the floor and into a sitting position. The sound of their daughter wailing from the other room only grew and Jun quickly rushed out of the room to go calm her daughter.
By now the nen spirits were already outside. They knew what threat was approaching and they completely understood the severity of the situation at hand. Their main priority was to get Mia to safety.
"I will grant you a glimpse of life..." the angel told once told them.
These were their memories.
Many years ago, when they were first assigned to watch over the child, they held a sort of hatred for the small brunette. They felt almost as though they were being punished. But over the years, they began to grow protective for Mia. They cared for her well being. Their job was no longer seen as a punishment but more like a blessing.
"... but you must protect my daughter no matter what" this is what Madame Marla told them a long time ago before Mia was even born.
"It's as if she knew that this would happen," One of the spirits mumbled to himself.
And he was right. Marla Hano knew a lot of things. Things that she was not able to pass down onto Mia. A lot of things.
"...no matter the circumstances, I'll always be watching." the angelic mother had said gravely.
And she surely was.
