Synopsis

There are very few assassin families. There are so very few of them that, frankly, they can all be counted on a single hand. Most know, the infamous family of assassins that have always held the place at the very top of the hierarchy for hundreds of years; the Zoldycks. But what about the other reigning families?

The Hano family.

The Akagi family.

Both the Akagi and the Hano families are sworn, enemies. For generations, they have hated one another and fought for their place right below the Zoldycks; for them to be second. The Akagi have always been dangerously jealous of the Hano family's close bond with the Zoldycks.

The Hano and Zoldycks, for decades, have helped and remained loyal to each other. A bond that can never be severed. Which is what has kept the Hano's at number two for the past three generations.

But how long can something so perfect last?

The System

The assassin families live under a system that is somewhat similar to a social ranking. Hunters are classified by their level of experience and by the type of hunters they choose to be. Assassins whether in a clan or solo are ranked similarly.

For years the Zoldyck's have held their place on top and are followed by the other two major families.

Most assassins of such high ranking find the system useless for it does not affect their careers in any way. That is the difference between Hunters and assassins, there is no value to being ranked.

The system is clear, the more recognition you have, the higher the clients pay. For many, it is their dream to make it to the top. For the high tier assassins though, it is meaningless.

But the feud between the Akagi and Hano's didn't stem from materialistic greed. No, it stemmed from something much more profound.
