Chapter 7

"Hey, let's ride this floater. Pangit mahulog." Hamon sa kanila ni Ace.

"The audacity. I'm sure naman na ikaw unang mahuhulog diyan."

"Raelle!" I heard Elian call me from inside.

"Yes?"

"Anong yes? It should be 'yes, Miss Elian?' Do you get it?"

"Sorry, Miss Elian. What do you need?"

"I want ice cream."

"I can get you one from the fridge." I offered.

"No, actually, I want ube. There's no ube in the fridge."

"How am I supposed to get ube ice cream at this time? Miss Elian, convenience stores are far away from here."

"I don't know. Utusan ka ni Alistair di'ba? Figure it out! Gusto mo bang magalit sa'yo boyfriend ko?"

"Ha?"

"Si Alistair! Gusto mo ba na magalit siya sa'yo?"

"You're a couple?" I asked.

"Of course! Everyone in the company knows. Kasal na nga lang kulang saamin eh!"

"Fine. I'm going." I said.

Hindi na ako nagpaalam sa kanila.

Alistair, you're an asshole. I should have never fallen for your words. Why did you say those for? To deceive me? To make me believe that you're a nice boss when in fact, you are a ruthless one.

I didn't care how far the convenience store is. Gusto ko nalang magpasalamat kay Elian at naka-layo ako doon.

I don't even have anything with me. Only a 500 peso bill.

I've walked for almost an hour. Tsaka ko lang napuntahan 'yung pinaka-malapit na convenience store.

"God, it will rain." I said and looked up to the sky.

Since I didn't have anything with me, even an umbrella, I stopped by an abandoned bus stop. Wala naman ding titigil dito kasi wala halos mga bahay dito.

Tuloy-tuloy lang ang pag-bagsak ng mga ulan. Kasunod ng mga kidlat.

I closed my eyes and hugged myself. Hindi ko na alam kung gaano na katagal umuulan. Ang alam ko lang, kasabay ng pagbuhos ng ulan ang takot at pagbuhos ng mga luha ko.

Why do I have to be so afraid of rain? It's not like I'm going to die if I see thunder and lightning.

I closed my eyes and hugged myself tightly. Mahigpit parin 'yung hawak ko sa paper bag na may lamang ice cream ni Elian.

"Hey," someone spoke. I couldn't hear properly because the sound of the thunder is too loud on my ears.

"Kuya, kung magho-holdap ka, wala kang makukuha saakin. 200 lang meron ako dito." I cried even harder.

Why does it have to be even harder for me tonight?

"Shhh, you're safe. It's me." He spoke again. This time, I felt a cloth at my back.

I slowly peeked and it was Alistair.

"Go away." I told him. I couldn't push him away. Baka 'yung kulog at kidlat 'yung tumulak saakin.

"Why are you out here? Bakit ka bumili ng ice cream? Madami doon sa fridge."

"Trip ko! Umalis ka na. I'll just wait for the rain to stop." I said and cried. Umiiyak ako kasi hindi ko alam gagawin ko kapag umalis talaga siya.
