Draco's pov:
"Why'd you call me? Is everything okay, Draco?" (Y/n) asked me sweetly as she entered my dorm.
"(y/n)-" I couldn't get the words out, but I had to. How could I do that to her? "We have to break up." I said straight forward and looked down. I needed to do it quick, painless.
It was quiet for too long, so I looked back up. Her eyes were glassy, but she smiled. Did she hear what I said?
"I-" I took a deep breath and rubbed my face. "We are on different sides, (y/n). This relationship can't last any longer. Otherwise you'll get hurt."
"No, we can do it, Draco. Yes- yes, we can. I can try and if- if it's that important to you I just won't join Dumbledore's army. If that's what this is about I-" she said fast.
"(y/n)." I cut her off and she looked at me. "I'm on the bad side, (y/n). I'm not good for you."Her eyes began to tear up even more.
(Y/n) was always a really sweet, kind and emotional person. People didn't understand why I was her boyfriend. People always told me I deserved a better girl, a Slytherin one. People told her she deserved a better boy, a warm hearted one.
They were right. She deserved a better boy.
"I- I should go." I said.
I took a step forward. As I was about to pass by, but she fell on her knees, shocking me. Wrapping her arms around my legs, she didn't wanna let go.
"(y/n), I still love you, but I have no choice." I whispered and her grip tightened.
"No, we can do it together. I won't leave you. We will do it, together." She cried.
I couldn't look down at her. I looked at the ceiling and tried to hide the tears in my eyes. The tighter her grip got the more I wanted to hug her. I felt her hands shake as she gripped on me tighter.
"I'm sorry, I have to." I closed my eyes. I tried to free myself from her grip. And after she let go, I looked at her the one last time in the eyes, before disappearing.
(Y/n)'s pov:
-two weeks later-
I sat down and my friend, Louis, sat next to me.
"You good?" He asked and I nodded. "You can tell me if you aren't. I know it's been a hard time since he left you, but I can't stand it if you're in a bad mood all day, (y/n)."
"I know." I sighed.
"Come here." He opened his arms and I leaned in. He hugged me tightly, making me smile. "There it is." He smiled. "Your little smile." I hugged him back.
After staying in his embrace for a few minutes, I lifted my head and caught Draco's eyes on me as soon as I looked up. He looked away immediately. I noticed how he clenched his fist and jaw.
"Come on, we're gonna be late." Louis said and helped me stand up.
We went to class and I took my usual seat next to Louis. More students were filling the room and the seats around us were being taken. Draco sat behind me.
The class started and the professor explained what to do. We all grabbed our quils and began writing.
"You have an idea what the answer to the second question is?" I whispered.
"No. Do you know the answer to the fourth one?"
"No."
"What would you get if you added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" He read out the next question. "I don't even know what that means, skip skip." He laughed adorably and I giggled.
I heard loud noises from behind and turned around to look, seeing Draco storm out of the class room.
After the class, Louis and I were walking in the hallway, talking and laughing.
"Okay, what do you like about me?" I asked and he smiled nervously.
"Uhh, I don't know." He shrugged.
"Come on, Partridge." I punched his shoulder playfully.
"You have nice ears. I mean-"
"Nice ears??" I almost shouted, gasping, and he couldn't stop laughing.
"Okay, now I have to go. See you later." He said after talking for a while. I waved and continued walking.
I heard a loud noise come from the boys bathroom and made my way there slowly, opening the door. I saw Draco's forehead against a wall, his eyes closed and his fist clenched, bleeding.
"Draco?" I asked concerned and his head shot up.
His tie was loosened and his robe on the floor. His face was wet as if he's just washed it and his hair messy.
He looked at me. I could see the pain and fear in his eyes.
Everytime he was like this, everytime he panicked, was scared, angry, I was the one to comfort him. I always told him everything will be fine again and nothing bad will happen. But now? Who was there for him now since I was gone.
He looked away immediately.
"Draco" I tried to step closer, but flinched as he punched the wall again.
Again, again and again. He continued as I watched in fear. "Stop!" I shouted. "You're gonna break your fist. Draco, stop!" I shrieked, but he didn't stop. He couldn't hear me. His anger overtook him.
I ran to him and held his bleeding fist, taking some tissues. I then wrapped them around his hand. "Have you gone mad?!" I whisper shouted.
He just looked at me, breathing heavily, not breaking the eye contact as I wrapped more and more tissues around his hand.
I looked up at him. We were looking at each other now and his eyes wandered to my lips and back to my eyes.
"I can't live without you." He whispered. "I thought it would be easy to protect you from myself. But I can't do it. I'm so selfish, I need you."
"I need you too." I whispered.
,,But isn't it too late?"
I looked at him confused, my hand resting on his cheek. "Late?"
"You already found someone better. And you deserve it."
"Draco, what are you-" I then realized. "Draco, Louis you mean?" I said and he just looked at me, which I took as a yes. "He's a friend, Draco."
"But-"
"A friend." I repeated assuring.
He hugged me out of sudden. "I love you."He whispered, his throat dry.
"I love you, too."
He pulled away and kissed my forehead. "We'll go through it, doesn't matter on which side you are."
"Together." I nodded.
