—THE DOORS TO THE GREAT HALL OPENED AS THE STUDENTS WERE EATING THEIR LUNCH. "Mail's here." Draco stated. A pitch Black eagle gracefully landed infront of Rigel and handed him a letter. Rigel gave him a piece of his food and opened his letter,
'Dear Ri,
We are SO PROUD that you're in Slytherin. Not that there was any doubt, of course. How are you? How's classes? I hope snivellus leaves you alone, that old bat. Anyways, Remus & I miss you terribly. Remus doesn't have anybody to read with, he tried getting me to read, he didn't get anything out of that except..a few ripped books. I bought them back, don't worry. Anyways, we love and miss you! Write back!
-Love, S.O.B
~Lord of the ancient and most noble house of Black.'Rigel almost smiled at the letter. He missed them as well. He got out a piece of parchment and a quill to write his reply,
'Dear, Siri & Remy,
I'm fine. Classes are going well. Snape didn't like me at first, but I suppose he somehow now tolerates me. I miss you both as well. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back home this Yule as I have something important to do. Say hi to Aunty Cissa & Uncle Lucius for me if you can. Love you more.
-Love, R.R.B
~Heir of the ancient and most noble house of Black.'He sealed the letter and gave it to his eagle, "take it to Sirius & Remus."
The eagle nodded and flew out of the hall with the letter in his beak.
"Our parents sure do have a love for the dramatics." Draco stated with a smirk.
Rigel nodded, "Of course they do." He said. His snake, which he called "indigo" due to her purple scales, slithered onto the table. Everybody in Slytherin already found out about his snake and him being a parselmouth, which was why they didn't even bat an eyelash.
"Indigo." Rigel sternly hissed.
Indigo stopped slithering and looked at him, "yes, master?"
"Get on my shoulders before Dumbledore notices. I promise to let you go hunting in the forest later on." He hissed.
Indigo nodded and slithered onto his shoulders. Unfortunately, none of them noticed the intrigued eyes of the professor with a purple turban watching the whole interaction..
••
"M-mister B-b-black, P-please stay." Quirrell said as the students rushed out of the class.
Rigel nodded and motioned for his friends to leave, "Yes, sir?"
Quirrell looked at him for a few seconds, but just when he was about to speak, Rigel cut him off.
"I wish to speak to him." Rigel said, pointing to his turban.
Quirrell's eyes flashed red, "How'd you know?"
Rigel looked at him with a raised eyebrow and pointed to his scar, "The horcrux you accidentally created in me that night when you tried to kill me, helped. Also, I've seen your eyes flash red multiple times."
"Horcrux?!" 'Quirrell' asked, panicking slightly.
"Yes. I reckon you planned to make a horcrux that night using my death, am I correct?"
"..yes." Quirrell said, narrowing his eyes.
Rigel shrugged, "You did it. But I'm the horcrux. Now..Why are you here?"
Quirrell looked at him for a few seconds and decided to trust him, he didn't know why, but he wanted to, "I need something that's going to be hidden in this school."
"Alright," Rigel said, looking serious, "I'll get you it."
Quirrell looked at him in disbelief, and then he raised his eyebrows, "You get something in return, do you not?"
"Yes." Rigel stated, crossing his arms, "But you benefit more from this than I."
"Go on.."
"The prophecy," Rigel stated, "You don't know the full of it, do you?"
Quirrell shook his head.
Rigel nodded, "I do. Want to know?"
Quirrell immediately nodded, "Yes."
"The one with the power to vanquish the dark lord approaches. Born to those who have thrice defied him. Born as the seventh month dies. And the dark lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the dark lord knows not. And either must die at the hands of the other, for neither can live, while the other survives. The one with the power to vanquish the dark lord will be born as the seventh month dies." Rigel said.
Quirrell looked at him intently, "..Why are you telling me this?"
"Because," Rigel smirked, "That prophecy will be void if we call a truce between us. I will get whatever is hidden in this school for you as well. But..You must never harm my family."
Quirrell looked thoughtful..
"Also, we'll both be immortal," Rigel concluded, "It said that we could only die at the hands of the other. And, I'm your horcrux. Kill me, and you'd be one step closer to death."
Quirrell glared at him, "Fine, brat. I want the philosopher's stone. It's hidden on the third floor corridor."
Rigel nodded, "I'll get it for you at Yule break." He said and walked out of the class, not realizing that he just made Voldemort even more intrigued.
••
Rigel walked back to his dorm after leaving Indigo in the forest so she could hunt. He took a shower and changed into comfortable clothes. After that, he pulled out a book and started reading and writing.
When he was done, he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
