"Honey?" I muttered carefully. Jerome narrowed his eyes at me.

"No." He gritted through his teeth.

"Please, I have to test it." I pleaded and got up from the garage floor.

"Grace, no." He shook his head.

I sighed with defeat, pulled up my sweatshirt and stuck the chip on my stomach. Then I swiftly turned it on and grabbed a knife.

"Jesus! No, wait!" He yelled, took off his shirt and scrambled to his feet. My eyebrows shot up.

"I'll do it." He muttered, walked up to me and yanked the dagger away.

"You want to stab me or be my lab rat?" I cocked my eyebrows and turned off the chip.

"Very funny." He chuckled dryly, gently pulled the device off me and stuck it on his stomach.

"Will it be like that for her? That's not a very good defence." He muttered. I giggled and took the knife from him.

"I'll put it in her back." I told him and activated the chip.

"I can't wait to see her reaction to that." He scoffed and poked the forcefield. I grinned and nodded.

"Ready?" I asked softly. He clicked his tongue and nodded.

I swallowed heavily and started nearing his skin with the blade. I got about two inches to it when the forcefield stopped me.

"You are terrifying." He mumbled. I giggled and pecked the barrier.

"You could've tested it with kisses, yet you chose the knife. Great." He sneered. I chuckled and looked up at him.

"Now comes the real test, I'm afraid." I took a deep breath and promptly lunged the dagger at his stomach.

"Grace!" He yelled and shut his eyes.

I squeaked when the blade bounced off the barrier and caused me to stumble backwards.

"Am I dead?" He whispered and popped one of his eyes open.

"No, you're perfectly all right." I chuckled, stepped closer to him and started twiddling the blade around his stomach.

"Grey." He growled when I accidentally poked his chest.

"Sorry." I mumbled and rubbed the spot. He sighed deeply.

"Obviously, I'll have to set the wider range for Barbara, but it seems that it recognises the general area." I muttered to myself.

"That's exceedingly scintillating." He declared. I giggled and looked up at him.

"Do you even know what that means?"

"No, but I heard you use it when Nygma told you something that I definitely didn't understand." He grinned and shrugged.

"That means interesting and clever, Handsome." I smiled, pressed a tiny button and deactivated the chip.

"I used it well then." He grinned smugly.

I chuckled, carefully took the chip off him and walked up to my desk. Then I quickly placed the tiny device in a clear, round protective case.

"Wanna test if it survives bullets and fire?" I asked. In reply, I heard rapid footsteps and the door slamming.

"Jerome?" I muttered with confusion and turned around.

My eyebrows shot up when I noticed the papers swishing on the wind he produced when he ran away.

I walked into the living room and saw Jerome sitting on the couch with his knees pulled to his chest. I stifled a laugh. He noticed me and jumped back.
