Love Yourself by Phora

Surprise, AZ
Friday September 5th
Mindy Manor | MM

"Mindy!" Elmira squealed as she ran towards the daycare worker and clutched onto her legs, she giggled looking up at her as Mindy softly petted her long chestnut wavy brown hair.

"Hello, Elmira. How are you on this beautiful friday?" Elmira giggled again as she clutched into Mindy's hand as they walked back to the table.

"I'm great, Emmy!" Mindy was unsure where the nickname came from but Elmira was set on calling her nothing but it, "I'm the first one here Emmy." She was in fact correct since no-one else had arrived apart from other workers.

"I see, what do you think you want to do today?" Mindy asked as she sat down and sat Elmira beside her.

"Ermmm I wanna build blocks!" Elmira yelled clasping her hands together, "I'll make the highest tower!"

"Great!" Mindy made sure to have just the same amount of enthusiasm despite it being 8:30 in the morning, "are you excited for today?" Elmira nodded energetically.

"Yup! So excited to see everybody's 'specially my bestie Thea." Thea was a new kid at the daycare but both her and Elmira had very similar energetic personalities so they made great bestfriends.

"That sounds so cool, I wish I had a bestfriend!" Elmira looked at the old woman sympathetically before putting her hand on her forearm.

"Emmy lonely cuz gots no friends?" Mindy stifled a laugh, "'tis okay Emmy, Ellie's here!" Elmira said as Mindy thanked her and a couple kids walked in simultaneously.

"Sawyer and Astrid  are here!" Elmira yelled twisting to watch her friends walk in, they quickly ran to approach their table.

"Heyyy Mindy!" Astrid waved excitedly, she loved the new daycare worker.

"Hey Astrid, hey Sawyer. How are you guys?" Mindy asked as they sat down.

"I'm good, I'm happys now." Astrid replied quickly.

"That's nice to hear, Sawyer?" Sawyer shrugged as he played with his fingers.

"I'm fine." He said lowly, "bored now." Mindy nodded as she looked for something for them to do.

"Do you want to go build blocks now, Elmira. You can show me your super high tower." Elmira nodded frantically loving the idea, "alright let's go." They all got out from the table and walked over to the blue matt with discarded lego blocks on top of it.

Mindy sat and watched them as they all built buildings together, there were a couple other kids in the daycare but they had different workers taking care of them.

On the following Monday, Mindy would begin her job as a children's nurse at Rosenberg Children's Medical Plaza. In the meantime she had to make money so she picked up a job at her most loved daycare.

It looked exactly like it did 16 years ago. She'd never been back since she turned nine. She left straight before her ninth birthday, perhaps a week or two beforehand. She was one of the last to go along with Kaia but the two girls weren't friends or anything of the sort.
