On this day, the rain continued but in a gentle and slow pattern. It still made a small tapping noise, but it was almost unnoticeable to y/n, as she woke up feeling different.
Unlike the other times she'd opened her eyes to realise that the rain was blocking her inside for another day, she wasn't mad. She didn't sigh, she didn't scoff, she didn't complain, in fact, she didn't even notice. Instead, she unwrapped herself from the soft blanket wanda gave her and pushed herself off of the couch instantly to head to go wake wanda up.
However, wanda always woke up before her, no matter what, and she waited in the kitchen, watching the excitement radiate from y/n.
"You're excited this morning." Wanda smirked from where she stood, leaning against the kitchen counter.
"Oh-." She paused and smiled at wanda, "i was gonna go wake you up, but... I guess I should learn that you're always up before I am."
"We're you getting me up to complain about the fact that it's still raining?" She joked.
She turned to look out at the rain through the window, "oh, i... didn't even realise it was raining."
While y/n looked at the rain, wanda smiled, "then while else were you in such a rush to wake me up?"
"I, uh-..." she looked back, "I wanted to see how you felt. The soup, it's supposed to be really relaxing. It usually makes me feel great in the morning, I thought it might've made yours good too."
"So that's the reason you're so happy this morning? The soup?" She smirked.
Hesitant to admit the real answer as to why she was so excited, she nodded, "yeah, yeah... that's why."
Wanda smiled and turned around to continue doing what she was doing on the counter, "that's good."
"So, uh.." she hummed, "did you sleep well last night?"
After a slight pause, wanda gulped down the urge to admit that she hadn't actually slept for a full night since moving into the cabin.
"Yeah, I did." She nodded.
"Great." She proudly smiled, "was it better than any other nights you've slept? I mean, did the soup help with-."
Purely so she wouldn't be persuaded to confess her insomnia to y/n, wanda changed the subject and masked it with an excited tone, "do you want pancakes?"
Instead of picking up on the fact that wanda clearly changed the subject, she matched her energy as if would make her feel better, "wow, you can really do all kinds of breakfast, can't you?"
She scrunched her nose as she smiled, "What kind of host would I be if I couldn't?"
She laughed, "well, considering everything else you've done for me, you'd still be a good host if you couldn't make pancakes."
Wanda tilted her head softly with a smile, "Wow, that soup must've been good, it's turned you nice."
With a small scoff, she laughed quietly and looked down at the floor, "alright, alright, niceness over."
Hiding a laugh, she asked, "Do you want anything special on your pancakes?"
"That depends. Do you have whipped cream?" She asked with a slight squint.
"Yeah, but that's only for special guests." She smirked.
She faked an offended look then chuckled, "well, how special do I have to be to get it?"
Wanda casually shrugged, "I'd have to be in love with you."
"Oh, really. That's all I have to do?" She sarcastically asked, leaning her arm against the wall.
A small giggle came from wanda as she handed y/n a plate of pancakes, "enjoy."
"Oh, I'm sure I will." She smiled, looking down at the absolute beauty wanda had made.
As wanda trailed off into the kitchen, y/n decided to steer the conversation into something nice by mentioning what she found out last night.
"I'm still surprised to find out that you like killing eve." She hummed.
"Is it really so unbelievable?" She cocked her brow.
"No, it's just that my friends don't watch it, no one I work with had watched it, it's nice to find someone who has the same favourite show as me." She shrugged with a smile.
Agreeing, she replied, "It baffles me how everyone isn't as in love with the books as I am."
"I said it before, I'll say it again, you need to watch the show." She told her, "honestly, wanda, you will love it."
"Believe me, I will watch it. Based on how excited you seem talking about it, it must be good, huh?" She smirked.
"It's amazing. I love it, and judging by how similar we seem to be, you'll love it too." She assured her, then began eating her breakfast.
The second she put the piece of the pancake in her mouth she let out a satisfied groan and nodded, "Oh, wow, wanda this is amazing."
"I am a very good cook." She bragged with a smile.
"You'll have to teach me how to make these one day." She suggested, focusing her attention on the plate she held in her hand.
To hide how much she was smiling at the seemingly mindless comment y/n made, wanda moved her head and caught a glimpse of the events happening outside the window, "Oh, I think the rains stopping."
The second she said it, she instantly regretted it. What was just a harmless observation unknowingly ended the moment they were having, and their time together.
Y/n turned to look at how faintly the rain drizzled from the sky, "oh, yeah" then she quickly turned back to find the comfort in wanda's eyes again, "uh... I guess I should start that journey I've been so persistent about."
"Yeah." Her tone clearly gave away the fact that she didn't want their time to end. However, the other part of her was going to let y/n go if she wanted to. But that's the thing. Y/n didn't want to. "The rain hasn't completely stopped... do you wanna sit on the porch and wait until it has? It's really nice out there."
Thinking it was the last time she was going to have a moment with wanda, she smiled softly to make it last, "Yeah, that sounds great."
