Once the quinjet had began disappearing into the distance, y/n started making her way over to the cabin. She walked with a smile on her face and a comfort in her pace as she realised what she was walking into.
The sun beamed down onto her as she walked, but she ignored the heat. For once, the girl who hated the heat, completely ignored it.
Y/n looked down at the ground as she walked, pleased to see the emerald grass that stood tall under the suns powerful rays. Then, something else entered her view - something that was different from the grass. It was a small, meaningless, rock. Of course, y/n stopped in her tracks and crouched down to pick it up.
As she held it, she traced her thumb along it and smiled to herself. She smiled, knowing she'd found someone who completed her so perfectly. Wanda wasn't just her girlfriend, she was her everything. Every little detail about the way wanda acted around her was perfect, and she loved her deeply for it.
With the rock in her hand, she continued her walk, but with a faster pace. The sun shone perfectly onto the cabin and all of the nature around it, paving the perfect pathway for y/n to walk up the steps and into the cabin.
When she entered and closed the door behind her, she saw wanda standing the other side of the kitchen, already looking at her. At first, the two of them were silent. All they did was stare into each other's eyes which shone across the room, until y/n cleared her throat.
"I got you... a rock." She told wanda as she placed it on the counter beside herself.
With a relieved sigh, wanda smiled and watched as y/n placed it gently on the counter before turning back to look at her. Her heart warmed in her chest, and she couldn't help but fall even more in love with the woman in front of her.
"I'll put it in the special drawer." She told her.
Once y/n dropped her now empty hand back at her side, the room fell to a silence again. Soon, the two girls were standing either side of the empty house, both too indecisive to make the first move.
Wanda sighed, her lips hinting at a smile, "I just wanna say I'm sor-."
However, she wasn't able to finish her sentence before y/n paced across the wooden floors and pulled wanda into a kiss. Without any hesitation, wanda immediately took to it and wrapped her hand around y/n's waist, while y/n wrapped hers around wanda's neck.
During the kiss, wanda's hand began to trail up from y/n's hips and to her neck so she could hold her face, but they breezed past y/n's wound as they did so.
Y/n hummed into the kiss before pulling away quickly, "the shoulder."
Chuckling softly, wanda cupped her face, "sorry."
Y/n pressed her forehead against wanda's and rested her hand on top of wanda's too, "it's okay."
With their foreheads pressed against each other, they allowed themselves to get lost in the others eye. After a while, y/n saw the change in wanda's look and paused momentarily.
"What's wrong?" She asked her, holding her hand with a comforting grip.
"It's just... I don't know if you're sure about wanting to stay here with me."
"Why wouldn't I be sure?"
"I'm a hard person to love, y/n." Wanda gulped, her worry becoming noticeable to y/n; not only because of her powers, but because of the way wanda looked at her.
It was a look of doubt. She doubted herself, and her worth, which y/n could sense. But, of course, she had no reason to. Wanda was enough for y/n, just as y/n was enough for her.
Y/n shrugged with a soft smile, "I'm finding it pretty easy."
Then, all at once, wanda's doubt rinsed from her. It disappeared from her entirely without leaving a trace or a hint of its presence. She smiled lovingly at her girlfriend while looking at every inch of the face she found so undeniably beautiful.
"You, y/n," she began, "are what I've always looked for. After everything I've done in my life, I didn't think anyone would be able to love me. But... you're here. After everything, you're still here, with me. And I love you for that. I love you for everything."
"I love you, too, wanda."
There was a newfound peace that settled over the cabin and the entire surrounding area. It was a peace wanda never seemed to be given until y/n and her were now safe, alone, and happy together. No other noise bothered the girls at all. Not the birds chirping, not the stream trickling, not even the sound of wood creaking whenever the wind blew against it distracted the couple from the moment they were in.
They were standing close, looking at each other lovingly while realising that they could now exhale. Sword - more specifically, the director of - was no longer a problem for them, which relaxed them and allowed them to fall to a calmness.
Even though they had no history that predated y/n first stumbling upon her cabin with her injured leg, it seemed as though their souls were finally reunited. Their hands fit in each other's perfectly and without a flaw, and their hearts beat at the same time whenever the other was close enough.
They both knew that they were at peace. No matter what could've been sent their way, the girls would've challenged it, and, of course, they would've overcome it. It was unspoken, but the girls both knew that they'd do anything for each other. They didn't need it to be spoken, really. They'd displayed it perfectly in what they'd done for each other during their time together, and they didn't need the confirmation at all.
The nature around the cabin settled with them in relief knowing that no immediate harm would come to them. Then again, even if it did, they'd beat it. They'd always beat it if it meant saving the other.
Eventually, the birds themselves quietened down to allow the two to emerge themselves in each other's presence, the trees settled, and the stream slowed down its harsh and loud rush.
As the sun reached its peak in the horizon, it was finally set in stone, and granted as an undeniable truth.
The cabin was no longer lonely, and y/n was no longer just a guest.
