STUDYHALL
AUTHOR POVStudyhall was always an interesting room to be in. Soobin didn't mind it much because, well, Yeonjun was there. He's never spoken to him but just his presence is enough for him, for now.
There isn't a teacher in this classroom most of the time so people used it as a social space rather than a study room. Soobin didn't really use it for studying either but because of his lack of friends he used it as a time to sit and think about whatever crossed over his sick mind for as long as he wanted.
He had a known habit of talking to himself which he didn't mind but others saw it as freaky and weird. He was often teased about anything people could find despite being quite a good looking boy. Normally good looks would grant you popularity but no matter how Soobin was the other students always saw him as some freak that was barely worthy of human treatment.
He had dyed blue hair and shiny brown eyes, he was relatively tall and small dimples that grow when he smiles but people look past that because he's a 'psycho'.
Yeonjun on the other hand was popular and an extreme heartthrob. He had light pink hair with pale toned skin, his eyes always looked inviting and he almost always wore a smile on his face. It was as if he was the celebrity of highschool. He has a close group of 3 friends despite his popularity. Loads of people would love to be his friend but he sticks to what he has.
Despite how opposite they are, Soobin sees them as a match made in heaven.
Soobin was in his own little world when he suddenly got hit on the head by a piece of blue paper, crumpled up as if it were meant to be thrown away. When he looked up he saw a group on his left laughing and whispering, the paper obviously having come from them.
He uncrushed the paper, reading something he was often told.
"Why don't you go and find mental help, psycho?" He read outloud.
It wasn't the first time he had received notes like this and it definitely won't be the last. He knew he could get rid of them quite easily.
He really couldn't care less about the note but that's when he saw a pair of hazel eyes looking at him, Yeonjun's hazel eyes. Immediately, Soobin's mannerism changed, looking down and pouting, looking deeply upset by the note.
"I think he's finally seen me" Soobin whispered to himself, continuing the sad expression despite his inside excitement.
Yeonjun was scanning the room when he saw two girls throw a note at a student behind him. It was that one kid he always heard about but never saw. Soobin? Yeah, Soobin. The one people talked about on the class group chats or over lunch.
"Earth to Yeonjun '' one of Yeonjun's friends called trying to pull his attention.
Yeonjun whipped around and faced his friends "Taehyun, Kai, Beomgyu. Not right now" he said sternly before twisting back around to look at the blue haired male once again.
Soobin's face had now fallen to a saddened expression. He looked extremely pitiful.
'Do I go up to him? Do I not?' Yeonjun thought to himself. It pained him seeing the boy look so hurt.
'Screw it' he thought as he stood, leaving his friends to approach the upset boy.
Soobin didn't raise his head even when Yeonjun was right next to him, his blue hair covering his face so no one could see him. Yeonjun desperately wanted to know what could be affecting him so badly. He knew there was a note but not what it could possibly be saying. He pulled up a seat from a neighbouring desk, setting himself down.
'I've never dealt with something like this' Yeonjun thought.
Yeonjun placed his soft hand on Soobin's shoulder trying to get any response he could. To his surprise the boy lifted his head exposing a pair of watery brown eyes that were slightly red and puffy. "Hey, have you been crying? I saw what those girls did to you" Yeonjun asked with curiosity but also minding the possible sensitivity of the situation.
Soobin's head was whirring round, the one he loved secretly for almost a year, sitting in front of him, comforting him. It was all too much for him but then he realised he had been asked a question.
"Just a little bit, I get notes like these all the time," Soobin responded shyly, showing Yeonjun the note.
Yeonjun's face fell upon reading the note. He couldn't quite comprehend why someone would say anything like this to such an innocent looking boy.
He had seen online multiple comments about this boy supposedly being psycho but now he had seen Soobin in person he can't even begin to see why people would say that.
Maybe it was just typical students, making rumours out of boredom. That's usually the case.
"Why do they do this to you?'' Yeonjun said with an exasperated sigh, ruffling the boy's blue hair.
Soobin shrugged and sat silently.
"What's your name?" Yeonjun asked despite knowing the answer. It would be awkward to say that he only knew his name from school gossip.
Soobin was frozen by his actions. The boy of his dreams caring for him. He felt very happy but for sure couldn't show it, he was supposed to be sad over the note after all.
"Soobin, Choi Soobin'' Soobin mumbled, looking the older in the eyes.
"I'm Choi Yeonjun but you can call me Junnie. I want to keep you by my side, you shouldn't get treated like that. No one would dare do that to you if you were with me" Yeonjun introduced with a smile.
Normally Yeonjun wouldn't be like this, so open to new people like this but it was common knowledge that Soobin was alone, an easy target to anyone. Whether Yeonjun's friends liked it or not, this boy Soobin would always be at his side.
"You really mean that?" Soobin asked, he had often heard people say this to him but later ditch him to humiliate him. He didn't want to get his hopes up but the fact that it was Yeonjun changed his way of thinking because as long as Yeonjun lived Soobin believed that this boy could do no wrong to anyone.
Yeonjun smiled. To Soobin he looked like the softest human ever. "Yes I mean it, pinky swear" Yeonjun said, holding his pinky towards the younger. Soobin saw his chance and took it, he held his pinky up to Yeonjuns. He never knew what it felt like to have someone promise him anything truthfully but was happy to accept Yeonjun as his first.
The boys exchanged smiles before Yeonjun stood up pulling the other with him.
"Come on, let's go sit with my friends," Yeonjun said as he pulled Soobin towards a group of boys.
'So this is what Yeonjun's attention felt like' Soobin thought to himself with a faint smile.
Yeonjun sat Soobin down where he once sat. "Now you guys be nice, I'll be back" Yeonjun said, staring at each of them.
His friends were lost in the situation but couldn't question anything as Yeonjun was already leaving and heading towards the two girls who had thrown the note at Soobin.
Soobin noticed where he was heading and wanted to stop him, he knew he could easily deal with those two later that day but he wouldn't dare say anything like that so he remained seated with the three other boys who were just as lost as he was.
Soobin couldn't believe that he didn't have to do anything to get Yeonjun's attention. All the planning he had done for this moment turned out useless.
