Chapter 35- Impatience

That 'tomorrow' Kai promised never seemed to come around. While he may have been at school he would always run home as soon as the bell rang and lock himself in his room before Beomgyu and Taehyun could even get out of the school building.

While the whole mess with Yeonjun and Soobin, Kai, Beomgyu and Taehyun were having no fun. They felt terrible about Soobin and Yeonjun's current situation with Soobin skipping school and all that but other problems that were happening in the bigger picture.

Beomgyu had been staying round Taehyun and Kai's house for countless nights to keep Taehyun company through all the mess and to hopefully see Kai whenever he emerges from his room again.

Taehyun and Beomgyu were currently sitting in the kitchen, hoping and waiting for Kai.

You see, with it having been 2 weeks since Kai promised to talk to them, the pair had grown impatient and realised that unless they initiated the conversation themself it would never happen so they had finally decided to follow through with an idea they came up with.

They went to school that morning with everything as usual and made sure their presence was subtly made obvious to Huningkai without going anywhere near him. During their last lesson of the day, things changed. Kai was in dance class but Beomgyu and Taehyun were in a producing class meaning Kai would have no idea what happened during that lesson.

That's why during their lesson away from Kai, Beomgyu and Taehyun decided to leave school, without permission and get home before Kai.

You might remember that the school was gated closed but there's nothing a good climb couldn't fix.

Also, you see, if they got home before Kai, he would think they're still gonna be out for a while, meaning he would freely loiter the house even for a little bit.

They had been home for about an hour now meaning school would have just kicked out and Kai would be running home any second. He would be there in the quickest 10 minutes. Possibly shorter. They wouldn't know because they've never been home to see it happen.

They sat in the kitchen, likeness is that Kai will want to eat when he gets in so they would 100% run into them.

They waited silently. They knew if Kai heard any form of noise he wouldn't waste any time getting himself locked in his room again.

After about 10 minutes of silent waiting, keys could be heard jamming into the door and soon footsteps could be heard inside the house. The footsteps appeared to be getting closer and closer until the small body of Kai opened the door.

Kai's eyes widened as he realised the pair were in there, most likely waiting for his arrival. He rushed to leave but just before the door could shut a shouty voice could be heard yelling for him.

"Kai Kamal Huening''. It was Taehyuns voice. "Come back" he instructed.

Kai re-opened the door, he was caught for sure now. After days of suspenseful and tactful avoidance a flaw was finally found in his methods.

This flaw benefited everyone but maybe not in Kai's eyes.

Kai walked back into the room wide eyed. It was now Beomgyu and Taehyun realised the changes to the boy. They would have realised before but they were probably too busy feeling emotional to notice anything back then.

His eyes looked dark like he hadn't slept in days, his demeanor was overall negative and it was evident that he had been skipping meals. His face seemed skinnier and slightly sunken in and his clothes seemed to almost hang off of his overly thin body.
