Chapter 40

She stepped on the green gras, being nervous and anxious. The white snow dazzled her and made the view more difficult while the ground was slippy and frozen. Although some voluntary students had shoveled the whole snow to a different place, the conditions were not the same as before.

'Nevermind', Seulgi thought and concentrated on the positive aspects of this game. It was the first official school league match this year, and they trained hard to get into the top qualification.

Besides, all her friends were cheering for them with banners and flags of their school emblem. She glanced to the stand and saw Wendy and Yeri screaming like hell with a red flag between them. Mina was there too. With her lover, a book.

She always wondered how this girl could even concentrate while being surrounded by hundred pupils. But Mina could do everything. At least was that Seulgi's impression.

Next to Mina was Jisoo with Irene, both cheering too. She watched her girlfriend making a heart out of her hands. She rolled her eyes. Cheesy. With a simple air kiss, she waved goodbye and walked to her team.

Jeongyeon was already giving instructions.

"Okay you might kill me for this idea but we will play risky today. The Rutherford University students are good players, but they aren't able to play fair. We take advantage of that."

They all nodded, ready to hear their captains plan.

"The first half, we play completely defensive. No forward actions for this time. Got it? Of course if there is a chance, try to get the point, but don't be offensive. We have to take their strength. They should feel confident about this game."

"If we play defensive, won't we loose then? They would get on goal after the other...", Lisa asked with a concerned and doubting expression.

"We can allow ourself that way of playing. Nayeon is our joker in this game. I know that this is a very risky way, but trust me, if we just get them to be exhausted, we play completely offensive in the next half."

Seulgi wasn't sure about Jeongyeon's plan. Not at all. But she had to trust her, especially now. She wouldn't disappoint her team again. Not today.

"Hands together", Chae yelled.

"READY OR NOT? ST. PRISTON GOES TO THE TOP!"

The feeling of the adrenaline rushing through her veins was definitely something that Seulgi missed so much. The tension in the air, the cold air touching her body and the thrilling feeling was her passion.

For the first 45 minutes they really stayed in the back of the field and tried to prevent their rivals to get a point. Everything went well until minute 41. This time, a player unfortunately passed them and kicked the goal.

It was indeed very demotivating after their backlog, especially as they got a real change at their rival's side.

Now their got a little break. A very frustrating break.

Even the words of Jeongyeon couldn't cheer her up. They needed two points to get into the qualification for the next round. One point meant to take a penalty. And zero meant... yeah, she didn't wanted to think about that now.

She walked with Jihyo along the field side as Wendy and Irene attacked them. The game was about to begin in less than two minutes...

"Seul... not so down...Don't loose hope, honey. I know you can do this!", Irene winked at her and gave her a peek on the lips. She softly smiled, feeling definitely better than before.

"I got it. No frustration."

The alarm ringed, signalizing that the game started in some seconds.

"Right. And now go and win this game!" Irene nudged her and pulled her behind the white line which seperated the field of the stand.

She waited some more seconds until Jihyo broke Wendy's hug and acompanied her back to their positions.

"Wendy is kind of a spiritual fairy. She indeed knows how to motivate..."

So they played offensive this time. In the beginning, Seulgi couldn't find a real difference in their rivals way of playing, but after ten minutes, they lost some strength.

Twenty minutes later, they had already got three chances to kick a goal. Unfortunately, the goalkeeper was as good as Nayeon...

After thirty minutes, she was running with the ball in direction of their rival's goal, next to her Jeongyeon and Jihyo. She did a clever maneuver and passed the item to Jeongyeon. This was their chance.

But instead of kicking the ball into the goal, their captain did completely the opposite and passed it to Jihyo who was recognizable irritated. But Seulgi noticed it too. Their goalkeeper wasn't paying attention to her friend.

That was also why Jihyo didn't think twice before hitting the ball with her foot and succeeded with a great goal.

They all screamed and yodelled.

They really had a chance!

Jeongyeon was right!

With much more passion and motivation, they continued the match. Nayeon almost failed to get a ball but fotunately reached it in the last second.

It was minute 89. The ball in the other half of the field near Chae. She kicked it to the other half, near the goal. Since their rival's forwards where all at their own half, the opposite field was nearly empty.

She couldn't do more than running.

No.

Flying.

Maybe this shit jogging was good for something. She reached the ball before one defender could do and tricked them out so she could pass them.

In every second could the game be over. But she didn't mind.

Faster and faster, she approached the goal, her toughts circulating around one thing. And then she kicked it.

And nailed it.

Her teammates surrounded her and yelled something, the whole stand was screaming too. They really succeeded. They did it! She did it!

A small person jumped on her arms and involved her into a kiss. "I knew you could do it, dumbass!"

With the cheering around them, Irene continued to kiss her. She felt so relieved. But who wouldn't? Winning was always exciting.
