She already saw her from hundred meters, how she leaned against the door frame with her usual uniform, the red skirt with the white shirt and the dark small tie. Seulgi was immediately mesmerized by her view. She made her way to the entrance of the library. Irene hasn't noticed her, so she back-hugged her.
"Yah! You scared me!", Irene shouted and playfully hit Seulgi's right arm. She just chuckled and took the girl's hand.
"Is Mina already here?", Seulgi asked with curiosity and tilted her head. Irene nodded.
"I lastly saw her near the fantasy shelfs. But I haven't seen her exiting the library." Since the room got no second entrance, she still had to be there. Perfect.
Together, they entered the big hall which gave her mixed feelings. Seulgi always felt comfortable here, especially in winter since she could read her books in one of the beanbags or draw aesthetic pictures. But now, it seemed to be so empty, like a lost place.
They didn't even need to search for Mina since she obviously stood at the railing of the second floor, looking down at them. Her gaze was undefinable. Irene greeted her with a simple "hi", while Seulgi stayed silent.
"Why is she observing us...", Seulgi whispered a few moments later.
"Because it is very rare that you see a specimen like ME in the library", Irene replied with a sweet tone and made a grimace.
"Have you ever even read a book?", Seulgi sarcastically asked but earned a deathly glare of her girlfriend.
"Several. I used to read a lot in my family's mansion but as I got in high school I totally neglected it."
After that they went silent. Seulgi focused on Mina who was approaching one of the beanbags now with a book that was even thicker than her waist. Was that the bible in sign language?!
"She's crazy...", Irene mumbled and breathed out deeply.
Again, Seulgi tried to concentrate and fixed Mina, but there was nothing suspicious. She was just reading. And reading. And reading. And guess what:
Reading.
Seulgi felt bored. Not even the caretaker of St. Priston who suddenly stepped in with some uniformed men could change that. They gathered at the wall near the entrance and started to install a technical device. Very interesting...
"She is not even moving..." Irene complained with squinted eyes and leaned back. "Why are we even doing this?"
"Because we need a connection between her and Wendy."
"And what if there isn't a connection and she is just weird?", Irene continued.
"There HAS to be one. Just watch and see", Seulgi motivated not only her girlfriend but also herself. It was indeed frustrating to stare at somebody who wasn't even blinking.
"Okay I wanna go now!", Irene stated.
"But she hasn't done something yet!"
"That's the point, Seul."
"There are a million reasons why she is connected to the theft", Seulgi claimed.
"I listen." Irene raised both eyebrows.
"She exchanged notes with her. She met with a secret person at night, just to enter the northern tract. She acts so sus!", Seulgi told her and crossed her arms.
"Okay fine, that's true. But look. Remember the fire alarm at the anniversary."
"I had a breakdown."
"Besides the breakdown. We all agreed that the 'thief', that was Wendy, had to steal the things during the alarm. So she was the cause for it. But she was the whole time with us. She can't splitt up Seul." Irene took a step closer. Seulgi sighed.
"But how could this all be connect-", a noise appeared from the caretaker. He was still doing things at the wall. "Can't they just just the fuck up? I can't concentrate."
"C'mon don't be so aggressive they are just installing a new emergency button."
"Can't they do that later?", Seulgi sweared and throw her hands in the air. She narrowed her eyes and send deathly glares to them. Why has this shit even to be broken? Who was always destroying things at this-
"Wait!" Her brain suddenly sprang to live. "For what is the emergency button?"
"For emergencies", Irene laughed.
"Haha! Funny. No, but seriously?" Seulgi continued.
"I guess it's for things like gas smell, fire etc."Irene assumed and shrugged. A smile appeared on Seulgi's lips.
"So this thingy is destroyed. Couldn't it be that Wendy has pushed it at the anniversary?" She felt so thrilled for no reason. But Irene's face enlighened too. "That's possible."
"Have you seen her around the library at the festival?", Irene now asked.
Seulgi closed her eyes. She remembered how she had to get a folder for Bang Chan. And how she almost failed to find it. She remembered that she saw Wendy there.
Seulgi gasped.
"Jisoo was with her! I saw them playing chess here, just fithteen minutes before the alarm!", she screamed, almost too loud.
"Are you sure?", Irene inquired.
"Yes."
"I also haven't seen them outside I guess. But it was pretty crowded so that's no argument. But what has that to do with Mina?"
"Nothing. But we need evidences. And now we finally found a logic one." Seulgi approached the exit of the hall, letting Irene running for her.
"Where are you going?!" Irene asked in confusion.
"I visit Jisoo now. And you'll accompany me."
They were currently walking down the corridor with a high pace. Irene could barely follow Seulgi since her legs were shorter. But still she tried to convince her.
"What if she just left a minute later? Maybe she won against Wendy and quickly got a drink for them."
"I talked to Jungkook outside. It's pretty improbable that she left in that other three minutes", Seulgi countered.
"And what if Wendy stole the jewelry half an hour later and my sister was gone?" Irene tried it again.
"Jisoo and Wendy did so much together back then, I already became jealous because of that. There HAS to be a connection."
They entered the western tract.
"You said that with Mina too. And she was just reading a damn book."
"Language Miss Bae. She read a bible in sign language."
"Oh now you start to interpret things in what the people read. I see."
"Just trust me babe."
"How should I trust you when you aren't having serious evidences?", Irene sighed but still followed her.
They almost arrived at Chae's and Jisoo's dorm. Some noised echoed in the corridor, probably Chae who was again creating chaos.
But the closer they came, the more it sounded like somebody else. And Seulgi had heard that aggressive yells several times while playing soccer. What was this girl doing there?
The door was slightly open. Irene immediately kicked it so they could see the spectacle. But their jaws dropped to the floor as they saw Jihyo on top of Jisoo, screaming at her. Or better said:
She beat her up.
