Finally her breath became regular as she was lying on her bed. The way to the bathroom and back was surely too exhausting right now. Seulgi closed her eyes for a moment and listened to the sound of Jennie's pencil since she was writing an essay.Seulgi would do that tomorrow. Or the day after that. Not now. She was too exhausted. Except of school, she had done nothing today. Soccer training was tomorrow, but without Jihyo and Chae, it wasn't the same. It was like they all protested and left the team.
Should she do the same? Should she leave the team because of her? Seulgi sighed and opened her eyes again. Jennie was still writing.
All days felt like the same after she left. Although Jihyo and her had met Ryujin and Tzuyu, everything was dull and seemed to be boring.
Student council were a tortune for her. Topic number one was still her 'beloved' friend, besides, they had to deal with major problems like new entries. Their school had a terrible image since this row of incidents.
"I would like you to inform about Wendy", Bang Chan spoke out and placed his hands on the lectern. "According to the police, Wendy confirmed that she has stolen the expensive objects from our students."
A gasp filled the air. Seulgi just stared at the wall behind her president, being completely in a different world.
"But still, she refuses to tell the officers where the rest of the jewelry is hidden."
She has never doubt about it. She knew it since she looked into her light brown eyes, full of guilty and regret. She was the thief. She had stolen all the things.
"Wouldn't it be a good idea if you take a walk outside, Seul?", Jennie drove her back to reality. She shortly glanced at her but pressed her head back into the cushion.
"Why?"
"You haven't left your dorm since five days. Except for school, obviously." Seulgi could hear a hint of concern in her voice. She huffed and turned to the other side.
"I'm not in the mood."
"Even Mina is more often outside than you recently." She pointed with her head to Mina's bed. It was empty.
"Don't pretend like you care for me, Jennie. And I'm fine." With this, Seulgi hid herself under the blacket and closed her eyes. She couldn't endure it when Jennie acted like this fake-friend around her. It was better that she distanced herself from the girl as long as she was able to. It was so obvious that Jennie didn't like her.
Seulgi heard a silent sigh of her. Then the sound of the pencil appeared again.
She woke up by a harsh slam of the door. She revealed her face (which was still hidden under the blanket) and observed Mina who crossed the room. Her eyes dropped to the wound at her forehead. It got worst with the time. It seemed to be infected, but Mina apparently didn't care.
"You should go to the healt-care center", Jennie mentioned from her bed. Mina shooked her head and took a book of her pile.
"Don't be so stubborn!"
They were all looking at her. Has she really said that?
Mina narrowed her eyes.
"None of your business, Kang Seulgi."
Somehow anger built up in her. This girl acted toward them like it was normal to walk around with a big wound at the forehead. She pretended to be an innocent puppy. Seulgi knew it better. She wasn't.
"I guess it's the business of everybody. We all wonder how you got that", Seulgi raised her voice.
Mina switched her gaze between Jennie and her. But she remained silent.
"Maybe you can play that game with her"- she pointed at Jennie- "but not with me. Maybe you got that little mark at one of your secret night-walks... Or Wendy has beaten you up."
Seulgi hasn't even noticed that she was standing in the middle of the room. Jennie looked at her in shook. Mina tilted her head, still saying nothing. Then she scanned Seulgi like she was a target, and opened her mouth.
"Still-", she paused. "That is none your business, Seulgi."
Seulgi hated those calm statements Mina always gave. She would have prefered a heated conversation with her, but deep inside, she knew that Mina would never raise her voice because of that. She immediately left the room with her book after Seulgi's confrontation.
Jennie was probably intimidated. She disappeared in the bathroom for almost half an hour, after that they haven't shared a word. Yeri was still at one of her biology meetings or whatever, so it was basically quieter than ever in their dorm.
She grabbed the marble on her bedside table and played with it. Her skin was oddly burning and she could hear her own heartbeat. A bit concerned, she placed her palm at her forhead. She was indeed very hot.
Should she go to the healt-care center? Then she had to stand up, and that was exhausting. 'Nope', she said to herself and relaxed her muscles. The cause might be the fight with Mina.
A knocking appeared in the eve. Mina was still not there. She wouldn't come back before 8pm, so it had to be Yeri.
The door opened. Of course, it was not Yeri.
A bit curious, she leaned forward to spy on the person. Who would come to visit them at 7pm? Her smile faded as she saw Irene approaching their sleeping area.
"Why are you here?", Seulgi inquired neutral and grabbed her blanket. Irene's eyes immediately dropped to the floor. She looked unhappy.
"Yeri had to discuss something with me."
"Sorry Rene, but she is still at one of her biology club meetings", Jennie gave her a soft smile. 'Rene'... Were they that close?
"Alright. I can also come later", the raven-haired turned around and seemed to exit the room. Then she hesistated for a moment and turned around.
"Seul. Are you okay?"
Seulgi huffed in annoyance. "Yes I am."
"You don't seem like this. You know that you can always come to me if you-"
Seulgi raised her hand and signalised her to stop. She couldn't hear it anymore. She didn't need the help of Irene. In the end, she would just be disappointed again.
"Just don't act like all the others, Irene. In the end, we both know that y'all will use me, like she did."
She looked at Irene. Emotionless. Until she saw the single tear that was rolling down her cheek. A tear that she had never seen before.
For the first time, she questioned her behavior. Was this tear her fault?
