As Irene got in, Seulgi immediately called her. As the girl accepted and after some seconds, Seulgi hid herself. Except of the sound that was coming from her phone, everything was silent. Here and there, one could hear an owl squealing, but apart from that, it was quiet. After some minutes, Irene apparently decided to make a video call, that's why Seulgi was now staring at the phone, trying to recognize anything in the darkness.
In front of Irene was a long corridor, full of junk. She noticed broken cupboards, old tables with chairs and other stuff. The camera turned to the side and gave her a peek into a side room. At the wall was a board, like the one they had in their classroom. In the back of it were tons of chairs and tables. It was probably an old school tract.
Irene continued her walk and passed some more classrooms. Irene could hear her footsteps on the floor, mainly caused by broken glass. It kinda built up a scary setting. Like a horror movie. Again, Irene stopped and filmed the walls of the corridor, now showing different posters of achievements.
'35th competition of the Scottish junior science league', Seulgi read. It was an old poster with stains and tears in it. She assumed it was out of the early 40's. So yeah, one could call it old.
Her view again turned around. Irene was now passing a small hall, filled with long tables. Probably a cafeteria. Seulgi noticed the black and white marbled floor, looking exactly like a chess field.
After a second, the scales fell from her eyes. The complex! The beton hall. The Chess field. It was exactly located under her girlfriend. Seulgi was already about to tell Irene, as she remembered to better be quiet. They shoudn't arouse more attention than necessary.
She observed Irene's surroundings a little bit more as the evironment changed. The corridors narrowed a bit, the amount of doors doubled. However, the junk had disappeared.
Seulgi saw Irene's hand appearing in front of the camera, showing her that she would open one of the doors now. She held her breath as the small hand grabbed the handle and pushed it. There could have been everything, a new corridor, a classroom, or even a torture chamber, but Seulgi had never expected what she saw now.
The room was filled with beds. Rows of beds. Every single of it looking weird and odd, since somebody had assembled a small railing at the end of it. Irene approached on of them and knocked at the hard metal.
"What's that?", Seulgi heard her voice and she turned around, revealing hundreds of strange objects behind the door. At first, she couldn't tell what she saw. Until Irene rapidly approached the mysterious stuff.
"Wheelchairs?", Seulgi asked. She was dumbfounded. Why did the northern tract stored wheelchairs?
Irene quickly left the room and walked back, passing the big cafeteria and the posters. Hearing her footsteps in the air, Seulgi ended the call and ran to the window to help Irene. The girl jumped into Seulgi's arms; a loud relieved exhale filled the air.
"That was creepy", she stated and hugged Seulgi again. "Why are they hoarding tons of wheelchairs there?"
Seulgi shrugged. She had no idea. Especially not about Mina and her mysterious friend who had been so eager to enter the tract. But she definitely knew: Mina was hiding something behind her neutral lips.
northern tract; 11:32pm
Her graceful figure was the only thing I could see in the darkness, at least until we both reached the northern tract. She glanced at me with her usual facial expression. Then she kneeled down.
"You first."
"How are you supposed to enter the building then?", I answered, not moving.
„Shut your mouth and do what I said. We don't have time." I rolled my eyes and grabbed her shoulder to support my balance. Within seconds, I climbed through the broken window in the tract. Until now, it had been too easy.
She followed a minute later.
"How can you jump that high?"
"Ballet not only trains your banlance, it also enhance your jumping ability." She looked at me as suddenly a small grin plastered on her face.
"You are full of surprises, Myoui Mina", I laughed.
At first, I wasn't really enthusiastic about Mina's idea to enter the northern tract. The right side was completely burned down, the left survived the fire. But who knows... The construction couldn't be in the best state after the incident.
But seeing the abandoned rooms, the corridors full of junk and broken stuff made me curious. It was kinda fascinating and horrifying at the same time. I felt like I was the main role in a thriller, while Mina was my innocent company. I shievered.
"Why does the school use the northern tract as a storage?", I casually asked. I saw Mina shrugging.
"I mean, we already know that they used the tract in the early 40's as a additional teaching and dorm area", I continued. "But why did they closed it?" I climbed over a huge metalic table that was lying in front of us.
"Mina, what do you think?"
"How should I know more? The book we found hasn't shared more information with me than with you"
I chuckled until I suddenly saw what Mina was doing.
"WATCH!"
She immediately froze and took a step back. In front of her was a small hole, filled with water. "They should really do some restaurations here... This shit is a fricking ruin", I cursed and raised my eyebrows.
Mina just narrowed her eyes and smiled a bit. Maybe she was mentally thanking me.
We passed some old dorms, filled with wheelchairs, artificial body parts and more. It looked like a tortune hall, at least Mina thought so. After a while, we entered a new part of the building, apparently the old office-corridor.
Weird name tags decorated the wooden doors, all with a golden touch. I could recognize the details since the darkness surrounded us, but I was still able to notice that everything in the corridor could collapse with one wrong movement.
"Careful", Mina spoke out and got in the lead. I followed her after some seconds, exactly placing my feet where she went before. Adrenaline rushed through my veins.
"Look for 'Arnold Priston'", I whispered. Maybe even our voice could cause a collapse of these old walls.
"Let me just take a look at this..." Mina suddenly announced and turned to the left, a small, nondescript door. It already TOLD me to prevent touching it.
"Com'on, we don't have much time. We look for Arnold Priston, not for- ehm- Amanda Caeltrist", I said. Mina shortly glanced at me.
"Just a peek. I wanna see if it's really an office or something else."
I was about to stop her, but of course, she was faster. The door opened with a ear-wrecking noise while the wood hardly touched the floor, causing it to shake.
"See, there was no problem. The door was just a bit-"
"MINA!"
