Chapter 12
"And as long as I got my suit and tie
I'ma leave it all on the floor tonight
And you got fixed up to the nines
Let me show you a few things
All pressed up in black and white
And you're dressed in that dress I like
Love is swinging in the air tonight" - Suit & Tie - Justin Timberlake"Hey Sweetie" I turned to see my mom walk into the kitchen. She sets her things on the table. "How was your day?"
I finish my bite of the delicious donut I was eating, "It was good. How was work?"
"It's work as usual." She smiles.
"How's Logan feeling?" She asked.
"He's getting better. After being off for a week of school, he should be better." I tell her. She laughs and takes a seat next to be at the table.
It's true, Logan got the whole week off from school because of his concussion. I'm a little jealous of him. This weeks been tough without him at school.
He only had to stay at the hospital for one night, he got out the next day. I didn't see him until later on that night when he got home. His mom had called me saying he wanted me to come see him so I did. He's really been milking this concussion though. He's made all of us wait on him hand and foot when he's perfectly fine to do things himself. I've wanted to strangle him this week but I still don't know what I would do without him.
My mom spoke up and interrupted my thoughts, "So tomorrow night Michelle and I have a work event. It's a fancy dinner at a country club that's in town. Our boss wants us to bring you and Logan."
"Oh yeah that will fine. I don't have anything planned."
She gave me a nervous look, "You didn't let me finish." She took a deep breath, "They want you two to go as a date to the dinner tomorrow night."
A date?! That's a little bizarre for a work dinner if you ask me. I don't really mind it though but I'm not real sure how Logan will think about it.
"Oh um I mean I guess that's okay." I told her.
"If you don't feel comfortable with it that's fine. I can see if I can talk our boss out of it."
"No, you don't have to do that. Logan and I will be fine being each other's date tomorrow night. Don't worry mom, it's all good." I said reassuringly.
She hugged me, "Oh thank you sweetie. Michelle is suppose to tell Logan about it. You will help us out tremendously!"
I laughed, "No problem Mom." She left the kitchen and I went upstairs to call Logan and tell him about our little "date" tomorrow night.
I reached my room and grabbed my phone off my bed and dialed Logan's number. He picked up on the second ring, "Hey date" he said.
I chuckle, "So I guess your mom told you."
"Yep" he said popping the p at the end. "I think it will be fun though. I mean we already know each other pretty well. It's not like we are strangers or anything."
"Yeah I guess so."
"Are you okay with it or.." He said with a hint of concern in his voice.
"Yeah it's fine. I just didn't know what you thought of it." I said.
"It's a date Zoe. It's not like we are getting married." He said matter of factly.
I laugh, "You're right."
"As always" he cut in.
We talked a few more minutes on the phone about tomorrow night then we hung up.
