Chapter 36
"Did you see that shooting star tonight?
Were you dazzled by the same constellation?
Did you and Jupiter conspire to get me?
I think you and the Moon and Neptune got it right
'Cause now I'm shining bright, so bright
Bright, so bright" - Bright - Echosmith
Have you ever had a night where you just couldn't sleep? Your mind just won't shut off and you think about all the good and bad things going on in your life. You toss and turn in your bed and no matter how hard you try, your mind just won't shut off.
This was one of the nights for me. I couldn't sleep for anything. I turned to my bed side clock and it read 3:00 a.m.
Normally, I would be stressing about not getting enough sleep since I was still up so late and I have school the next morning but thankfully tomorrow I will miss school.
Why am I missing school tomorrow you may ask? Well tomorrow, I'm going to see my dad is court.
That was the main reason why I was still up at this ungodly hour. I was worried and nervous about seeing my father who abandoned me when I was younger.
Five years is a long time without seeing your dad who was once the person who tucked you in at night and teased you about the little boys who would flirt with you. Or who was once the person who coached you in softball and was the only reason why you played the sport anyway.
It was hard and I missed him but seeing someone who once meant the world after five years of no speaking to each other is nerve wracking.
I flipped over in bed and huffed. I wish I could sleep.
I wonder if Logan is awake, I would love to talk to him right now. He's probably in bed sound asleep and it would be ridiculous to call him and wake him.
Then I remembered what he told me a while back that if I ever needed him no matter the time of day to call him.
I guess it's worth a try. I picked up my phone from my bedside table and dialed Logan's number.
It rang three times before he actually picked up. "Hello?" He said huskily in his sexy sleeping voice.
"Hey, sorry I really didn't mean to wake you. I was just going to see if you were awake." I told him. "I'll just talk to you tomorrow." I was about to hang up since I felt guilty for waking him from his slumber.
He chuckled, "Zoe it's okay, if you want to talk or something then we can. You know I don't care."
"Okay," I said not knowing really what to say next, I hadn't really thought about what we would talk about I just wanted to talk since I couldn't sleep. "Well, um I couldn't really sleep so I was just going to see if you were up."
"Want to hang out?" He asked.
"It's like three a.m Logan," I said with a laugh.
"So," he said and i could imagine him shrugging his shoulders and smiling that goofy grin of his. "Come on, I'll meet you in your backyard."
I smiled even though he couldn't see me through the phone, "You're crazy Logan Collins,"
"I know but that's what makes me who i am right?"
"I guess so," I said I climbed out of my bed.
We hung up and I grabbed a sweatshirt before walking downstairs quietly and out to my backyard.
He was already out there with a flashlight lantern thing and he was spreading a quilt on the ground. He stood up when he saw me and smiled.
He had on a sweatshirt that was identical to mine so the hoodie that I was wearing was actually his. He still had on a pair of plaid pajama pants and his hair had that bed head that was very sexy on him.
