Chapter 20
"Now I've got you in my space
I won't let go of you
Got you shackled in my embrace
I'm latching on to you." - Latch - Sam Smith
Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. I know, I'm crazy right? But I really do not like Halloween. Valentine's Day? Sure. Fourth of July? Heck yes! Halloween? Hell to the no!
I got out of my bed with a groan and shut my alarm off. Today was indeed Halloween and the only good thing that's going to come good of today is that it's Friday.
I searched my closet for a outfit to wear. It was starting to get a little chilly outside. I maybe originally from up north but doesn't mean I still get cold easily. I finally settled on a grey sweater, skinny jeans, and my favorite combat boots. Easily the most comfiest outfit to wear.
I finished getting ready just in time to hear Logan blaring on his horn letting me know he was here. He can be so impatient sometimes. "Give the horn a rest. Will you?" I said as I got into his car.
He grinned, "Nahhh," I scowled at him, "Jerk."
He laughed, "Hey! I was just kidding with you." He poked me in the stomach, "Smile princess," he said wearing a cheeky grin of his own.
I couldn't hold my smile in after that. "You're in a good mood today." I stated.
"Duh, it's Halloween!" He said excitedly. I rolled my eyes, "Am I the only one who hates Halloween?"
He gasped, "You hate Halloween?!" I laughed at his reaction, "Yeah i guess I do."
"But why? One cannot hate Halloween!"
I shrugged, "Well sorry but I do." We pulled up at school and got out of his car. We walked together inside the building where are friends were by their lockers.
"Zoe here, hates Halloween." Logan says once we got to them. They all looked at me with wide eyes, "No way!" Cara says.
"You can't hate Halloween." Kelsey states.
"Yeah, it's like the best holiday ever!" Peyton exclaims.
I rolled my eyes at them, "Whatever, I still hate it."
"Do you have like a reason why or you just hate it?" Zach asks. I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know, I just think the hype of it all is too much and stupid. I mean all people do is dress up in costumes and walk door to door for candy. Not to mention the pointless scary decorations like skeletons and ghosts."
"You're crazy!" Cara says.
The bell rings we head to our classes. Logan walks with me to my locker and I see Ashley coming around from the corner. She "accidentally" bumps into me which makes me bump into Logan. I scowl as turn to say something to her but Logan pulls me away before I can do anything. "Just let it go." He tells me. "It's not worth it."
I take a deep breath and keep walking to my locker. I grab my books and start off in the direction to my first period class. "See ya at lunch." I say over my shoulder to Logan.
My classes went by fast this morning. Which I was glad for. Everyone was buzzing about Halloween and it got annoying but I got over it. It was now lunch and I joined my friends at our table. They were of course talking about Halloween.
"So Zoe, I know you hate Halloween but can you please dress up with us tonight?" Cara asked giving me the puppy dog eyes and pouty lip. Ughh why me??
"Do I have a choice?" I whined.
"Not really." Kelsey laughed.
"Fine," I grumbled.
"Yay!!! You can ride with us from school and we will get ready and dress up." She clapped. "I can't wait!"
