And then it started raining.

Literally raining.

"That's weird. I even checked the weather today." Jax's eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.

"And it's literally August. There's no way it would-" And then I was interrupted my a clap of thunder.

An evil cackle echoed through the air.

"GILLIAN! RUN!" I looked up to the source of the voice, where my dad was tied by rope to one of the gargoyles. He was struggling to break free and the rain was absolutely soaking him.

"DAD! WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP THERE?" I yelled back.

"He's up there because of me of course." A voice spoke. I turned around to see Praxina floating down.

"How are you here? I sent you to the Beyond!" I exclaimed.

"Easy. I teleported away before you could hit me silly."

Of course. She can teleport.

"Wait, then the ash?"

"Special effects, I'm a genius at those."

Right.

"Gilly?"

"Go back inside, I'll be right after you Jax."

"I am not leaving you out here!"

"Do you want to almost die again?" I raised a questioning eyebrow.

There was another clap of thunder before he spoke again.

His eyes hardened as he looked at Praxina, but softened once again as they met mines.

"Fine. But be careful."

I smiled, "I will."

He ran out into the rain, running back inside the castle.

"Letting your little boyfriend go first?"

"Actually fiancé." I corrected.

"So a lot happened while I was gone!" she exclaimed. She tightened her fist and my father let out a yelp.

"What are you doing to him?" I said through gritted teeth.

"Torturing him. It's how the rest of his life will be. Unless.."

"Unless?"

"Unless you would rather lose your kingdom for him."

I put my hand on my hips, "So you're blackmailing me now."

"Mm, yeah, I guess." She cackled.

"Well that's not fair." I mumbled.

"Did you say something?"

"Nope."

"So what's you-"

She was cut off by one of my crystals hitting her right in the thigh.

She fell from the sky and landed in some bushed.

I summoned my sword and moved closer to her, but she leaped up surprising me and threw her own crystal at me, right at my heart.

I was thrown back, and my sword clattered a few feet away from me.

I struggled to get back up and then reached for my sword, but stopped short, when my heart jolted. I gasped and put a hand to my heart.
