"Club activities are tiring," Yibo sighed as he walks home. Wang Yibo is a college student, extending his hours at school because of his club activities, which is, if he doesn't attend, his scholarship might be removed.
Since his father just suddenly disappeared out of nowhere, leaving him with only one message. "There's nothing good getting involved with the mafia." He doesn't even know what it means and his father didn't come back for almost six months.
He sighed once again, 'Whatever he does, I can't hate him anyway,' he thought as he stood in front of the door of their house.
"I'm home," he uttered after entering. His mother always comes home tired from her work and the only thing Yibo can do for her is do the chores while his brother can't do that much at home.
"Gege!" His brother approached him as he enters the living room, getting his bag from him. Yibo smiled, at least his tiredness vanishes whenever his brother welcomes him with a bright smile.
Yibo ruffled his hair and gave him his back. "I'm sorry for letting you cook again today son, I know you're tired as me," his mother said as she smiled faintly.
Yibo smiled at her genuinely, "It's okay mom, I can do this much for you," he said and went straight to the kitchen and grabbed the apron, putting it on his waist.
"Mom," he suddenly called as he grabbed the knife to start preparing the ingredients of their dinner.,
"Yes?" She answered from the dining room which is just across the kitchen.
"Any news about dad?" he asked.
His mom sighed, "No, I tried calling him once today but I can't reach his phone, I also asked from his workplace but they didn't know where he is either," she uttered dejectedly.
Yibo stopped from his chopping, he looked down, everyday is a worrying day for them. It's been six months and his father hasn't shown up yet. There's no possibility that he's dead because every once a month they receive a letter from him with an unknown address.
He heaved a sigh, "Let's just hope he's okay," he said and forced a smile.
"Yeah," his mother responded with his head lowered.
Just then a loud bang on their door interrupted them. They both looked in the direction of the door with their brows furrowed.
"I'll go check--" his mother was about to stand from her seat but Yibo stopped her.
"No, mom. I'll go," he said sternly. The loud banging seems something's off.
His heart started to beat nervously, he slowly went to the door with his staggering feet. No one can protect them but him.
The banging continued, he put the door's chain lock and slowly opened a small gap. His eyes went wide when he saw two well-built men standing in front of their door, dressed in a black suit and black sunglasses.
"Who's there?" he asked, trying to hide his fear, if any chance they try to attack he will surely lose to them.
"Is this the Wang Residence?" The two men asked.
He paused as he suspiciously looked at them, he doesn't know what to say to them because they look like mafia or something.
"It's about Robert Wang," the other said that caught him off guard.
'What about dad?' he thought. Now he's contemplating if he will entertain them or not because they seem dangerous, but his curiosity about his father is making him harder to decide.
He exhaled before opening the door wide, welcoming them inside.
"Yes, this is the Wang residence," he uttered sternly, 'If this is some information about dad's whereabouts it's worth a gamble,' he thought.
