When I woke up, the first person I want to see was not there, rather, it was mom, dad, Lucas, and Haikuan ge.
My brows furrowed, "Where's Xiao Zhan?" I asked. Haikuan ge who is sitting at the dining table inside the room stood, "He left for a while to settle things at the police station," he said then pass a plate of sliced apple.
"Oh," I answered and looked down, he must be busy. Right, he needs to make his uncle pay for everything, it's not like he needs to take care of me. I'm already better!
"You okay son?" Mom asked me as she leans down.
I smiled at her, "It's just my shoulder, mom. Look I'm already better," I cheered her up.
I looked at dad and I can see the regret in his eyes, I smiled at him, "Dad, I know you have your reasons. We're here to hear you out. Don't look dejected or I might get sick more," I laughed.
He looked up and smiled at me, "I'm glad you're okay," he said, "But if it is not for my recklessness you wouldn't have to suffer such danger," he added.
But if dad didn't do that, is it even possible to meet him? Well, I'm partly grateful, though at first, I thought I'm going to die.
"Dad, I'm fine. See? I'm alive and kicking. This on my shoulder is just a small scratch, I didn't die," I chuckled. But I can still see dad's sad face, well, it's his call of duty what can I do? Though, I still don't know dad's line of work. Hahaha
"Actually dad, I'm curious about something," I paused, he looked at me, waiting for the next word I'll say.
"What is your line of work?" I asked curiously.
Haikuan ge looked at dad as if asking him if he told me or not.
Dad sighed, "I'm a policeman," he confessed. My eyes went wide, I didn't expect that!
"How come you didn't know?" Haikuan ge asked me.
"How would I know? I never saw dad's uniform or even gun at the house!" I answered. It's true, there's no hint of him being a policeman, other than his muscly body.
"Chief, how'd you did that?" Haikuan ge was amused. "That's why your good at undercover investigations!" he added.
Woah, so if dad is a policeman and does an undercover investigation, "Does it mean, he solved the case about what happened last night? So, that's why there's a raid that happened in the hotel!" I exclaimed. Now I get it. Dang, I want to know all the details!
I immediately changed my expression to expressionless, Imma let dad tell me everything, "So you hid everything from me?" I acted, I hope he buys it. hehe
"I-I'm sorry son. I didn't mean to..." he apologized. Wow! He bought it, well, gonna let him spill all the tea.
"Mind if you tell me?" I said expressionlessly to intimidate him.
"O-okay..." he answered, surrendering to my request.

Night had come, dad explained everything to me. The investigation was led from one case to another, all along, Zhan's uncle is the suspect for all the crimes they investigated. I'm glad he'd been caught. Well, mom, dad, and Lucas went home while Haikuan ge is here, looking after me.
"Gege, when do you think Zhan will finish cooperating there?" I asked Haikuan ge. For some reason, I'm missing him, plus my heart's been unusually beating fast as if there's something going to happen, or I'm just overreacting?
"So you're calling him Zhan now and not Boss?" He teased.
I smiled widely, "Well, it's awkward calling him boss when we both feel the same with each other," I laughed.
"How can you be so sure about it?" he raised an eyebrow at me.
"I just felt it!" I exclaimed.
He rolled his eyes at me, he's not convinced, is he?
"Yeah, yeah. Just eat, I know you liked baozi so I got you one. Food in the hospital tastes bland," he said then threw a baozi at me. It's still peeping hot, I liked it best when it's still hot.
I opened one and ate. After eating, the sleepiness just suddenly hit me. Well, I'll just go to sleep, hope to see him tomorrow.

I woke up early, about five in the morning. I'm just excited to see his face.
As I woke up, I saw Haikuan ge and Mr. Kevin, sitting across at each other sipping coffee. My brows furrowed. Why'd their awake this early?
"...He'll be discharged this afternoon, then I'll visit tomorrow at their house," Mr. Kevin said to Kuan ge. I don't think they notice I'm already awake.
"That's good to hear, dad. Anyway, everything is covered by Mr. Xiao?" Kuan ge asked.
"Yes, so there's no problem about the finances. Anyway, I'll get going," Mr. Kevin stood from his seat and put down the mug.
"You're becoming a lot busier now that you came back to your old work," Haikuan ge chuckled.
"Hm, yes. But I'm happy to be back and serve the young master. I think this will be best since I don't need to look out for my son anymore because he has you," Mr. Kevin said. I smiled, Kuan ge just found himself a great father-in-law.
As I look at Kuan ge, I saw his ears flushed. Oh, he also gets shy? Hahahaha.
"Thank you for entrusting your son to me, dad," he said and bowed.
"Don't be so formal," he tapped his back, "Anyway, I'll be off. Tell my other two sons I said hi, I'll visit sometime when everything died down," he said and left the room.
I can see Haikuan ge's smiling widely as he watches Mr. Kevin get out of the room.
"Good for you, future father!" I exclaimed to tease him.
He jumped in surprise. What am I? A ghost?
He faced me, "O-Oh, you're already awake," he uttered, cupping his chest as if he had seen a ghost or something.
"Yeah. Anyway, is Zhan called? Is he going to visit?" I asked excitedly.
He sighed, "He hasn't. Must still be busy, that's why dad came to handle everything on his behalf," he said and turn to the small kitchen of the room.
"Is that so?" I uttered, a little dumbfounded. But I think it would be given that he's busy, he's settling everything and all. I know he's worried about me and my condition right now that's why he doesn't want to burden me. I just need to be patient so I will not be a burden to him.
"Well, he's doing his best. When I can finally see him again, I'll just tell what I feel," I giggled.
Haikuan ge looked at me softly, "Better practice that speech so you won't get rejected," he teased.
"I will not get rejected!" I retort. Duh? who's going to be rejected. We felt the same.
"Yeah, whatever. Here's your breakfast and some herbal tea to help you recover faster," he said and put the table on the hospital bed then laid down the food.
I smiled, "Thank you, gege," I said and started eating.
He patted my head then turn, I caught a glimpse of his reaction, it's a half-smile but his eyes look sad or something? whatever! I'm going to eat to get better quickly!
