Two days go by
For the past two days, all I've been doing is laying in bed. The hospital allowed me to go home because I was healthy enough to not have to stay there. But because of the chemo, I've had no energy, so I haven't gone to school. I feel a little better now so I'll probably go tomorrow just so Eli or matter-of-fact anyone doesn't get suspicious.
He and Demetri have been blowing up my phone, more Eli than Demetri since he does not know what's going on.
Eli
Hey, why didn't you come to school today?
Did I do something?Demetri
How did the chemo go?
Eli's catching on. Not that your sick but that something happened.I put my phone down, leaving their texts unanswered. I want to answer them so badly but I just can't get myself to. I climb out of bed and head to take a shower.
As I'm combing through my hair, there's a clump of hair in the comb. I knew it was coming, but I didn't want to accept it. My hair is me, my hair is one thing I mainly care about. It was partially grown back from the last time I've had chemo. Although I have a wig that looks exactly like my hair color, it's still not the same.
Tomorrow morning
My alarm is loud through my ears. I groan, throwing my phone across the room. I'm dreading going back to school, I don't know how to keep it a secret anymore.
Eventually, I climb out of bed and throw on a pair of black leggings with a Cobra Kai T-shirt. My mom's best friend is the sensei there, Johnny Lawerence. Most of the time I hang there after school with him and Miguel.
I leave my room and enter the kitchen to find my mom leaning against the fridge, drinking a cup of coffee.
"Goodmorning dear, need a ride to school today?" she asks me.
"Goodmorning. Yea, if that's ok" I walk towards the cabinet and grab and a bag of cereal. She nods and picks up her keys. We both walk out of the house and hop into the car.
I get to school and my eyes spot Demetri standing at the door, along with Miguel. His eyes meet mine and sprint over to me. He leans his arms out and pulls me into a hug.
"Nice to see you too," I laugh
I look forward to finding Miguel walking towards us.
"Hey Lillian," says Miguel
"Hey. Do you want to walk to practice together after school today?" I ask. Miguel and I hang out a lot at his place after school, mainly because I just love talking to his Yaya. He doesn't have a car so I tend to drive him everywhere and he pays for coffee in the morning.
"Sure," I smile. I look around, not finding the one person I was expecting to see.
"Where's Eli?" I ask them confused. Demetri gives me a weird look as Miguel's eyes widen. They both look at each other, confused about what to do. "What?" I ask.
"So, Eli goes by Hawk now, did you not hear?" Miguel states.
"No, enlighten me," I tell him.
He takes a deep breath and continues, "After I got into a fight with Kyler during lunch, Eli made Demetri come to Cobra Kai after school the day you were out. Sensei Lawerence sort of bullied him for his lip and everything. He told him and I quote "flip the script". So he did and basically, he just got a lot of confidence plus a mohawk" Miguel laughs.
"Of course Johnny said that" I mumble to myself. "Why would he listen to Johnny?"
"I don't know. Ask him yourself" Miguel scoffs.
