I look around nervously, unsure what to do. If I should go in with them or go home. Cameron's eyes have been locked on me ever since he showed up. Eli reaches to grab my hand but I quickly swipe it away. He eyes me up and down, aggrievedly. As if he's trying to tell me what to do through his eyes."Hawk you can go," I tell him "But I'm gonna head out. I need to be somewhere soon anyway"
"That's too bad," Kyler says. Hawks eyes stay locked on mine. "It was nice seeing you Lillian" he continues.
I smile at them all, turning around and walking away. I keep thinking, we aren't together Lillian, we aren't together. Part of me is upset that he offered to go but the other part understands why he did.
"Come on, let's go in" I hear Kyler tell them behind me. I walk to a bench in front of the mall and sit down, pulling out my phone. I look to the side to find Eli's eyes full of sorry, locked on me.
"It's fine" I mouth to him. He turns around following them into the mall.
I'm not upset that Eli didn't say no to them. I guess I'm just kinda upset that he let Kyler almost hug me after he knows what he did.
I go to my mom's contact and press call.
"Hello," she says."Hey, mom. Can you come pick me up at the mall?" I ask her.
"How come? Aren't you there with Eli?"
"I was. Something came up. I really don't want to talk about it."
"Oh...okay" She pauses. "I'll be there in a few," she says and hangs up the phone.
Millions of questions are running through my mind. But I can't seem to actually think of answers to them. Everything has been going so well between us I don't want this to be the thing that messes it up.
"Hey.... can we talk?" Cameron sneaks up behind me, scaring me.
"What the fuck Cameron. Don't sneak up on me like that"
He walks around, sitting down on the bench next to me. "My bad. Look I just wanted to apologize for not telling you about Cobra Kai. My mom got a new job here and she wanted to be closer to it so we moved a couple of neighborhoods. Which happened to be here. And for tonight, we had no idea you'd be here. We were just looking to get something to eat."
I feel bad that he's apologizing because I was the one not answering his calls. I've had so much going on recently I haven't even thought about Cobra Kai.
"You don't need to apologize. I haven't really talked to anyone which is my bad. It's nice to have another friend here"
"Yea definitely. You and I should grab something to eat sometime"
The Cameron I'm talking to now is definitely not the same one I met. He isn't as forcing and rude as he was that day at the mall.
Eli would not like that one.
"Yeah maybe. Arent your friends looking for you?" I ask him.
"No, I told them I went to the bathroom. Hawk would kill me if he found me talking to you" he laughs slightly. He's right about that one.
My mom's car pulls up in front of us.
"Hey uh I got to go but I'll definitely talk to you soon" I stand up.
"Yea I'll see you at school tomorrow right?"
"Not sure but probably" I smile at him, walking away to my car. "Bye Cameron"
He stands up. "Bye Lillian"
I climb into the front seat and sit down. My mom is staring at me confused with her arms crossed.
