CROSSING RIVER (B×B×B..) *COMPLETE*

Chapter 5- First to Regain

The first thing River thought after crossing over to the other side was, ‘Fresh’, he got his body out of the small opening then slowly moved out. The glass slid shut behind him, making him turn around and glare at the glass.

He moved closer to it and placed his hands on them then scratched the surface and looked at the other side where he came into existence.

He felt movement in the water and quickly looked behind him, he saw a creature at the other side of the room, observing him as he observed it.

Veronica and her team stood outside of the room and watched the creature, River had become. His human height was 175 cm and now he was if not 185 cm then close to that or more. Blueish scaly skin but shining patches of pinkish red scales, long and muscular tail in same colour and patches with pointy end like sting ray. His hairs had grown in width and looked very smooth and silky. Webbed fingers with talons for nails, gills on either side of the neck, ears pointed like that of an elf.

They took pictures of him using the organization’s camera. When the camera shuttered, they all saw River’s attention was on the glass window. The team gasped thinking he was looking at them but that was not possible, it was one way looking glass. Their breath stuck in their throats when he swam to the mirror as fast as they could blink.

River looked at the window but he was looking at himself, it was a mirror. He examined himself from other person’s point of view. He felt like he was being watched so he turned and looked at the creature on the other side then he turned back to the mirror and hissed, showing the changes inside his mouth.

Camera started clicking nonstop and they all looked at River in further astonishment. “Why doesn’t he have rows of hook like teeth but the only change is elongated human teeth with Longer and wider sharp canines?”, one of them mused.

But of course no one had any answers to such questions, so every one ignored the person. He was the same guy who pissed himself in the water. Veronica took out her satellite phone and said, “Scan him”. As soon as she said that a blue beam shoot out from the ceiling then from the floor and both sides of the wall. She opened her tablet and pressed in the screen couple of times, finally a 3D scan was loading on the screen on her hand.

The skull had slimmed from previous state, eyes socket had become smaller, all other bones had elongated on the upper body, the transparent pointy needles on the back was sticking out of spinal cord, below the waist, two leg bones had turned into peduncle like dolphin’s tail bones and other fins were formed of cartilage bones. The sharp sting at the end seem to be made similarly like rhino’s horn.

She saved the file on her personal tablet and turned it off then looked up only to see River looking straight at her. She yelped and retreated few steps, every one else had their eyes on the screen next to the window where they were looking at the scan themselves so they gasped in shock as well and took some steps back after seeing River looking at their team captain.

Veronica calmed her heart down then moved closer to the screen, she knew it was just coincidence that he happened to be looking at her, so she extended her hand and placed it on the screen. Her heart skipped a beat and started thumping, she could swear she saw his eyes move to her hand but he had turned back and was focusing on the dolphin. She took in a deep breath then cleared her throat being embarrassed from imagining things.

River swam forward and so did the other creature. Slowly both of them kept inching closer and closer, River followed the dolphin with his eyes who was swimming in circles then he shot forward only to hit the glass surface and screech then he clawed the surface left and right. People outside thought he must have gone rogue and wanted to kill daisy and eat her. Veronica held her breath and narrowed her eyes, disappointment evident in her face.
