The Everetts waited in Erina’s office as their people opened the base room where the creatures were said to be kept. The couple went through everything in the office hoping that the lady they trusted their daughter’s life with had left anything they could salvage to wake up her up.
They turned every page, searched through all the devices but couldn’t find any personal notes or theories or anything that could be deemed worthy. Mr. Everett curled his fingers into a fist and slammed it on the desk, “There’s nothing! Do you think she just fooled us? Gave us false hope and just took our money to run this zoo she created?”, he seethed angrily.
Mrs. Everett had her focus on the video files of River and the gang that Erina had watched and collected. Her eyes were shining bright as she watched some parts and witnessed the magnificent creatures. “I believe she has something up her sleeve. I’ve been continuously listening to that audio Dr. Veronica sent us, I believe Dr. Erina was one of them”, she said as a matter of fact.
Mr. Everett turned his angry eyes and looked at his wife who was focused on the screen as she spoke, “She knew so much about them, the boy had pointed out that thing. Just look at this whole damn thing! The glass walls, the tanks, the rooms, temperature setting, the machine, environment, she built all that before they found the boy. She kept saying he was the one who started all this but this place was built before he was brought here and he had legs, an infant”.She turned and looked at her husband who seems to finally be considering her words, “She knew all of this before anyone. Every room every corner of this place is made perfectly, watch this”, she clicked and zoomed on the video when Wayde was thrashing his tail against the glass and continued, “How could she possibly know their strength? She couldn’t have guessed it off just from dolphins and whales, could she? Then what about these precautions with headphone and sunglasses? How could she figure that out so easily, from movies?”, she cursed and sat down on the couch.
“She did everything flawlessly, having back ups for every thinkable reasons. Doesn’t that make it more flawed for being so prepared and smooth? Anyways we don’t care for these things yet, our main goal is to have our daughter back and she was talking about songs when the audio was damaged. That might be the way to bring our daughter's consciousness back! She made Olivia make a body for our girl, this has to be it and only that woman knows of this method”, she figured things out.
Veronica came in after a knock with a very pale face, “Um.. Mr. And Mrs. Everett, we opened the floor to the glass observation centre and we...”, she hesitated as she tried confirming what she had seen herself. “Spit it out! Where is she?”, Mr Everett spat with annoyance.
“We found the clone for your daughter but Dr. Erina, we found her dead body floating on the observation cube. The creatures have some how escaped”, she said as calmly she could. But her hands were trembling, the woman who helped her and whom she has been working for so long, was dead and the boy she basically saw grow and change along with two other biggest achievements of her life were gone.
The couple got up and yelled at the same time as they shoved the shocked woman aside and stormed out of the office, down to the first floor. As soon as they arrived, they released a sigh upon seeing the clone in good condition but when they watched through the floor and into the cubical, they saw people hoisting up a dead body from the water.
The couple felt their heart clench from anger and sadness, their only chance of waking their daughter was dead. The people fixed the cameras and the couple quickly searched every nook and corner for the creatures but all they saw was an open glass wall and a tank in the bottom of the cubical.
“Find that boy! Isn’t he the only one who can understand us or has he gone savage too? Bring him back at any cost! Now!”, Mr Everett roared and his order was heard loud and clear. With a “Yes, sir”, three guards went out and up from the room. Mrs. Everett’s eyes were red from hate for the woman whose body was just placed on the floor.
