The purple and blue crystals filled cave was emitting thick layer of lust in the water which flew into the guest cave where new world and old world members were having small awkward talks with each other.

Mira was both thankful and angry with Erina and Olivia. She expressed her gratitude to them for helping her son become who he was now and she was angry  by the ways he was brought up as a child, with humans and unaware of his own kinds. In the end she was just grateful to all four of them for being there for her son and for becoming his family.

Riley, Wayde and Brandon were only able to listen half of what she said as they had sensed extreme sexual tension from the cave where River had gone to, with the twins! Mira along with other sensed it as well and while the twins’ parents, Dessa and Kyle were proud of their sons, others were worried if River was being forced in to doing anything he wasn’t ready to do.

Before the possessive and protective boys rushed into the other cave, Mira had stopped them, “Don’t! I know human world has different system than us and you all have only been here for nearly two hours, it is absolutely important that you all learn and accept the new ways. I’m aware of Meras in human world also follows matriarchy from what Rhael had shown me, but here a carrier or bearer is the centre of every tribe or kingdom, regardless of their gender as gender blurs in this world. In every two to three groups of Meras there is either one male or female who have abilities to carry children. Hence making them the centre of mates and tribes”, she explained.

“Those three have had their life intertwined with each other before they were even born and we adults are in fault for that but they are the ones we called ultimate mates. Rhael shouldn’t have been able to love or get attracted to any other Creatures because he is made for them and vice versa but because of this science magic, his life is somehow connected with the three of you. You all have his blood in you and he has a little bit of yours”, she pointed to Wayde and Erina.

“So what you are saying is he wouldn’t have been able to like anyone for his entire life if we weren’t coincidentally brought together?”, Riley asked, a bit perplexed. Mira sensed his emotions and felt guilty for the part she played in making her son’s life to be that way but she had never thought things would turn out this way. She had thought he would grow up knowing who his true and real mates are and form a strong bond with them from the beginning.

“I don’t think he would have been alone considering this boy here had been given his blood from childhood”, she gestured to Brandon, “It wouldn’t have been as strong as it would with the twins but my son would have one person he would have been together with for life. Alas, he seemed to have bottled up his emotions along with his true self from the trauma caused by that beast and his separation with me”, her eyes dimly glowed as she re watched River’s whole life through her eyes, she felt everything he had felt.

The family system in Meras seemed to be one female with harems of males and females but she only mated with dominant male for offspring, others were just there for when she wanted emotional, mental, physical and spiritual support. If dominant male passed away or was killed after a challenge the one who won would take his place or the strong one after him.

Basically a small family of Meras include one head female with many males, one or two females and that was about it. Ultimately they all followed one true matriarch who either followed same system or just mated with one partner or with a random Siren to get pregnant. That was the common system with Meras from both worlds but here the royals had been keeping the relationship within family for generations and it only changed when River’s mother went out and brought an outsider.

She had noticed how shorter life the inbreed offspring lived, how many of them died as an infant and only those with strong ability grew up to be an adult. They were too occupied with battles and territories to even think about such things for hundreds of years and only recently when the adults started living longer but with decreasing numbers of childbirth, did things started getting into perspective for them.

The Meridian royals had no offspring for a long time and when they heard the princess from Tridia wanted to pass through their borders to travel into the old world, they had thought to strike the deal and all three of them had a deep and meaningful conversation regarding the population in their kingdoms in secret.

It was actually Dessa and Kyle’s idea to test Mira’s theory of the problem in their system of inbreeding. It was never within the immediate family but more like distance cousins if they had survived to be a mature adult but nevertheless it could still be considered within the spectrum of family. In regards of their origin, their beliefs only extended to knowing that the goddess on her own had birthed two pair of children who later created more with each other and that’s how the population increased.

The two tribes were later formed after dispute within the family and just like that constant fights and killing started. Hundreds of years is not that long considering their ancestors only lived up to the age of thirty. Only after sixtieth years, did people learned about crystals and ability which gave those with abilities to live for more than thirty. That’s how the two tribes became two kingdoms and royal families were formed.

They soon realised that the impact in abilities of parents decreased after their child came into their own powers. Meridia had history of abilities like Ice and heat while Tridia had the ability of Electricity and telekinesis. Both kingdoms had their own ways to handle with infertility.

Meridia figured out the way to sire creatures with less vibrations, like sea horse and sea snakes. Once they were forced to swallow their blood and bitten, they transformed into a humanoid looking creatures. They were fully in control of their bitten spawns but they usually died after four years or when their Creator passes away.

On the other hand, Tridia started giving birth to Meras who were able to carry child regardless of their genders. But they had to heavily rely on temperature or environment to have such ability to take place which was only recently learned by them. So, the three royals had long conversation in secret with their knowledge regarding their history because not everyone liked to know that their ways of doing things were wrong.

If the twins’ parents were not having their title being challenged because of their infertility, they wouldn’t have divulged themselves with having that secret meeting with Mira.

Dessa and Kyle had heard of special creature in old world which could make them fertile and since Mira had wanted to go there, they first made a deal with Mira about her first born which would force her to get that special creature for them with no room left to bargain because if they had told her about their infertility first, she would have just made deal with them to bring their item in exchange for the pass through the barrier.

They had planned it beforehand, they knew they could get their first born after feeding on the remedy from old world and by making the blood deal, they forced her to bring the remedy for them for free because the fate of her child would depend on it. When the two of them saw how unhappy Mira had become from being tricked, they redirected her thoughts on the theory that if she conceived a child with a Meras from old world, it wouldn’t have to suffer from the continuous circle of death.

The couple only wanted to protect their position as the royals by birthing a child, they were stuck in old ways as others but just to get the remedy for their infertility, they indulged themselves with Mira’s theory and made her think they completely believed her and when they learned about the special ways Tridia’s Meras could birth despite their gender, they took the gamble of having a half royal breed mate with their own offspring.

That’s how the things came into motion, one couple wanting a child and one evolved thinker wanting to solve population issues came together and tangled the lives of their unborn in their desire to change their own lives. But their smooth plans got butchered by the involvement of stranger variant. The couple didn’t expected Mira to actually bring a whole being when she returned from the old world.

They let her pass with her mate after they got what they wanted but of course the creature would eventually become the topic of discussion between the righteous elders of both kingdoms. After they got cured of their infertility, Dessa was expecting and in order to stop others from exiling Mira with her mate and the mate of their future child, they convinced everyone by revealing the treaty or the forced deal they had made to unite the kingdoms and deal with their decreasing numbers.

Some elders from both sides were pleased with their leaders coming together to help each other after years of disagreement while some thrived from the chaos and didn’t want to settle down from battle because they thought that their lives were numbered at it was, why waste what remains of their lives in peace and love? They wanted to conquer the weak kingdom between the two and claim it under their own, as one single kingdom.

They didn’t speak up at the time of joint meeting and bitterly agreed to let Mira and the stranger live in the new world just because of the blood treaty between the heirs of either kingdoms. River’s grandparents only cared about their daughter and her child, they didn’t want a foul blood in their place, so they made their warriors follow River’s father everywhere and at all times.

Many narrow minded Meras who wanted war, kept clashing in secrets. But their numbers weren’t good enough to call it a battle, so ironically they formed a temporary alliance to break the peace within two kingdoms and focused on their common target who was River’s father. The Warriors tailing him weren’t all peacekeepers and they reported back to the leader of war mongers about how the old world Meras constantly edged closer and closer to the unknown barrier in Tridia.

They concluded that the guy wanted to escape back to his own world and planned to help him but both sides agreed that just letting him escape wouldn’t cause a war. They decided to kill their own people and blame it on River’s father after his escape and then start a rumour how it was done by the royals from either side which would eventually cause chaos on both kingdoms.

However, it was finally the time of the variant in new world to play his part in screwing everyone’s plans. He kidnapped River then escaped which caused roar and blood lust the war mongers wanted but it wasn’t towards each other but one creature alone and that’s how they realised their blood lust could be satisfied by only one common enemy but it was too late.

Once again the small ripple in everyone’s plans took place and Mira dashed after her mate and child through the barrier before the combined army was formed to charge into old world. Only few managed to run after Mira and the barrier closed on it’s own, not before everyone near the border heard a bone chilling roar from outside the barrier.

It took many days for Mira to find her son and she confronted her mate who carelessly threw River at her with guilt in his eyes. He seemed to have just wanted to leave the strange world and used his child as protection to escape. He didn’t want to hurt River, he just wanted to escape then leave River back through the barrier. He wasn’t a responsible father, he just believed in hunt, eat, breed and repeat it all over again.

Mira was pissed but not to the point of killing the guy, so she just shoved him into the whirlpool and returned with River to the barrier. However, she was exhausted and lost. It had taken her three weeks to find River and she hadn’t eaten or rested during those weeks. Then it took her one week to find the barrier but she soon saw the massive beast lurking around the icy filled water. It seemed to be struggling to stay alive in the water.

Even in such state, it chased after her and she fought back, with that strike of lightning and the rest is history. She somehow returned to new world and said few words then passed out for seventeen years. The war hungry warriors were scared to cross the river to reach the barrier as new enemy had emerged after River’s father had managed to escape.

The barrier worked in mysterious ways. When swam towards it, the water flowed upwards and when swam away from it, the water helped you get where you wanted to go. However, since that incident, the crossing of River was banned and the wars remained within the tribe. Parties from each side blamed each other for being careless. The twins were born which had surprised every one as it was not common to have two child at the same time.

They grew up like any other child did in this world but that was the thing, only five child were born in both kingdoms that year. Every one had mysteriously become infertile which had caused further tension between the Meras.

In Meridia numbers were decreasing in strange manners, warriors who went to hunt, never came back. Search party were formed and they discovered the reason, a giant scaly creatures with wings were killing their people who had gone to hunt and reached the surface. News spread about existence of such creatures and then going to the surface was banned in both kingdoms.

As the Twins grew, they were trained to fight and protect their people and they had soon learned about their mate being taken to another world. They wanted to talk to Mira and ask her what happened but she hadn’t woken up then. The twins’ parents made them focus on survival of themselves and their people before other things.

Then news of strange sightings of long humanoid creatures in Tridia attacking Meras travelled to Meridia. The twins disregarded their parents order and left their kingdom to enter Tridia. In all those years, Numbers of people in Tridia were far less than Meridia, only common folks were present. The twins had learned that the Queen and King had taken warriors with them to battle with those humanoid creatures.

However, No one ever came back. Twins stayed in Tridia to protect sleeping Mira and the remaining people. Their parents also sent some warriors to help them when they heard what had happened. One day Mira finally woke up and hurriedly asked for her child. The twins were excited and eager to meet River after they heard what had happened outside the border.

Since staying there and fighting the Creature wouldn’t solve their problems, both families decided to look for River and permanently resolve the first issues they were facing and that was fertility. Heirs with ability needed to charge crystals to keep the water pure for it’s inhabitants and they concluded that was the reason behind infertile Meras in both kingdoms.

River’s eyes trembled a bit then they opened, he massaged the spot between his eyes and sat up. Now, he finally knew everything up to date from all sides. Information from his mother fitted perfectly with what the twins knew and he figured out the rest on his own by connecting the dots.

He watched as the twins woke up and they seemed to have caught up as well. Now, the only puzzle left to solve was the long humanoid creatures which neither his mother or the twins had seen in person.
