Chapter 10- New roommate

After River’s childhood memories were shattered, he heard the clicks and loud howling like melody for nearly an hour. He just waited for red lights to flicker and Veronica to ask him ‘How did you managed to bring that reaction out of a killing machine?’

He didn’t know he could still feel embarrassed, he is pretty much naked but only seeing what kind of thing someone was packing, did he feel shy. Even in school, his care takers had somehow managed to keep him out of physical activity. He never played games so he never went to boy’s locker room.

The only time he had seen boys change clothes and get naked was in Porn. He had only started working in water park and whenever he changed only Alex would be in the room. He never thought about such things all his life, even Porn was something Brandon had made him watch. Now that he thought about it, he had never had sexual urges.

He knew he liked guys but his thoughts had only been limited to romance. After the incident, something did change inside him but he didn’t know what it was and felt overwhelmed. He was brought back from spiralling down new emotions when every thing around him shook then the mirror glass started moving up into the ceiling.

As it was fully pulled up, River saw the coral reef right from where he stayed. Now he finally understood the structure of the place. Him, Ronald and Micah were placed in long and wide outer circular glass while the reflecting glass covered the inner circular section from them and only after going to his right direction could he see coral reef at the small part which wasn’t reflection glass while going to the left direction allowed him to see the real ocean which was also through the small part left with no reflecting glass.

The centre part of this huge tank was where all the coral friendly sea creatures were kept. It was colourful in comparison to the dull place River and others were kept. He swam to the glass wall and watched the hypnotizing scenery that was kept hidden from him.
Another wave of vibrations shook the glass walls and he felt it first hand, literally, he had both his hands on the glass wall when it shook then what shocked him the most was the wall on his side had opened up half way. He thought it was similar for the others and hurriedly swam to the surface.

He was panicking, didn’t they just say that Micah killed their first successful experiment? He glared at the camera when he heard Veronica’s voice, “Don’t panic River, only you are given access to the small replica of real sea like experience. No harmful sea creatures are placed in the inner circle. This would be good opportunity for us to see how you co exist with them and vice versa. Please quickly make way into your extended home”.

He narrowed his eyes then worriedly looked at the “Inner circle”, he dove back in and swam to the elevated glass wall then after nervously looking around for a while, he crossed the boundary. As soon as he did, the glass wall behind him started closing the gap. He saw a metallic track on the floor where the glass wall fit in perfectly and it clicked.

‘Was this all artificial? When did they started making all of this? How did they keep this place so secret. He hadn’t even come across any conspiracy theories about this place’, he thought then slowly made his way to the middle section of his “New home”, this was his second or third “New home”, in two days.

All the peaceful sea life was disrupted by his presence, he watched as all the creatures hid themselves inside every crack and corner while the bigger fish which couldn’t fit in, went to the far end. As his eyes followed them, he clearly saw two other big creatures watching him as they clicked and made low and high pitch humming sound.

‘Do They hear my sound in similar manner? It’s like whale noises!’, he thought to himself. Ronald and Micah were far and on the other side so, he didn’t bother going there. He finally built some courage and swam to the reef, he looked at everything with twinkle in his eyes.
