Chapter 17- Turn of events

River snapped his head to the siren as he heard what the fish tail had said but he felt more surprise then angry, of course he didn’t care for the context of the words, yet. He was more focused on having heard the guy speak, not proper sentence but still a human sentence none the less.

It was Riley who was perplexed and throwing daggers through his glare at Wayde. “It worked! It really worked! I mean I knew it did but now that you spoke, it’s more valid! Alright, so she wanted something from us that is why she helped. Wayde, she wants umm... She—”, he couldn’t finish speaking when he saw the red lights flicker.
They all looked at each other and it was River who swam above first, other two boys followed.

“River, This is Erina. I would like to have all three of you up here. There has been some change of plans”, came the voice and the routine thing with the machine followed, three times.

After some time River, Wayde and Riley were in front of Erina in one big tank. While transferring information, Wayde knew everything River did so he felt like he could trust the lady. It was only Riley who was out of loop.

“I don’t need your seeds or eggs. The body made from Subject M has matured sooner than expected and I can get what I want without having to make a child. However, I do need help from three of you with something. Here, listen to this melody and memorise it”, she said in a very good mood.

While the four of them were doing there things, Olivia had reached the meeting room, her hand was on the door knob and her expression, complicated when she met Veronica who just happened to come out of the said room.

Olivia knitted her brows and looked at the lady she just met in elevator, “What are you doing here Dr. Mills? I thought you were resting in sleeping quarters?”, she questioned.

“I had booked meeting with Mr. Flores, what brings you here?”, she said instead. “Wouldn’t you love to know! Ha! Now please excuse I have some important matter to discuss”, she pushed the door further in return shoving Veronica to the side and then walked inside.

Veronica just scoffed then walked away from the office and down the hall. Olivia had a smile on her face but as soon as she exited the room after relaying the message to the Everetts, her smile vanished and panic took over. She tapped on her phone and had only pressed something when her phone was snatched.

Olivia snapped her eyes at the person and gritted her teeth, “What are you typing Olivia? I’m not stupid, I know you heard my conversation”, said Veronica as she stood in front of her while men with guns stood behind her.

Veronica checked everything but couldn’t find anything on Olivia’s phone then clicked her tongue.

“Looks like you didn’t have enough time to send her any message or perhaps you already did”, she said then got close to Olivia’s face and sneered, “It won’t matter anyways. Our investors are pissed at being lied by Erina and these people have their orders to not let anyone out of the facility. Anyways, I want to know how does it feel to learn that the woman you had idolized, has been lying to you all this time?”, she said with an satisfying smirk.

Olivia just chortled, “I’m assuming you think that they will make you the head of this organization? I think you have forgotten something, you told them to gain favour but at the end of the day”, she got close to Veronica’s ear and whispered, “You are still her aunt in the papers, Veronica Petrovsky”, she was the one laughing when she was taken away by the soldiers while Veronica stood stuck on the spot and curled her fist.

The boys had just finished listening to the weird song that made their skin crawl and their soul shook when Erina’s phone chimed and they watched as the lady’s expression change from smiles to anger. “Shit! What is wrong with that woman?! Fuck all this, humans can never be trusted. Ok, boys looks like we have no time to practice”, she said as she clicked on some buttons on a black box.
