CROSSING RIVER (B×B×B..) *COMPLETE*

Chapter 23- Finish what we started

River’s eyes finally twitched as he felt his heart in his throat from the Scream. His body slowly regained it’s senses and his eyes fluttered open. His sight focused and after he felt he could move his hands and legs, he lifted himself to a sitting position.

As soon as he did, he met eyes with Veronica who was still pointing her gun and keeping others on the other side. He turned in horror and his eyes first landed on Riley and Wayde and he calmed a bit then he saw Erina on the floor with Olivia on her lap. She was pressing hard on Olivia’s stomach.

“How dramatic of her to take a bullet for a monster!”, Veronica smugly said then started staggering. “Fuck!”, she cursed and pointed the gun at River, “You are coming with me kid. You started all this, it should end with you too. Finish what you started, River”, she prepared to pull the trigger and River could hear Riley and Wayde run towards him and he could also see Brandon trying to jump in front of him to take the bullet.

He narrowed his eyes, took a deep breath in and opened his mouth making a low and high, “Shwaa” sound. Erina, Riley, Wayde and River saw a circular transparent force exit River’s mouth and shot right towards Veronica. The woman didn’t even get to pull the trigger when the force touched her head and it exploded. The headless body walked forward and dropped in front of River’s knees.

Brandon who was dumbstruck, first came to his senses and closed River’s eyes. Riley and Wayde ran towards the boy covered in old and fresh blood and dropped on their knees as they checked all over his body for any cut or wound. “Are you alright?”, Riley asked and River turned his head towards the boys while he leaned back on Brandon’s chest.

He felt pain in his throat and cleared it then said, “I am fine. God! Olivia!”, he recalled then with three pairs of hand all around his body, he stood on his feet. Wayde and Riley narrowed their eyes on Brandon who went stiff, “Stop! He’s my family. He knows he was wrong. Come on hurry, let’s help Erina”, River pulled two tall boys who were pissed off with Brandon for dragging all of this to this point but still followed River.

Clone chamber was on the same floor so Riley stopped River from going there and he himself ran to grab the serum that could stop the clones heart. They were thinking of performing the ritual once more on Olivia this time.

“You stay with me! Do you hear me? Don’t fall asleep!”, Erina patted on Olivia’s cheek as Wayde and River pulled the clone out of the tank and placed it next to Olivia. “You better treat me right, Erina Mills. I literally took bullet for you”, Olivia managed to joke as blood seeped out from her stomach and her mouth.

“You! Why did you come there? I told you to leave. If you want to be treated right then fight the sleep. Stay awake until we save you”, Erina spoke as if talking to a child. Tears were falling out of her eyes as she spoke but she was fully focused on pressing the wound on Olivia’s stomach.

She looked back into the building where Riley had gone to fetch the serum, “What is taking him so long!”, she said in panic. River and Wayde turned their heads as well and River didn’t know that even Wayde was planning to go inside and check on Riley.

They soon saw the boy come out and they all relaxed. Riley gave the needle to Erina then they all yelped when the clone woke up with a gasp and flail around. Their eyes were widened from this unexpected event. Olivia who was fighting the sleep was also dumbstruck, she even felt her body feeling healthy for a moment.

“Shit! What do we do?”, as River said that, Erina was already on top of the panicked clone then she removed the cap from the syringe, using her teeth and spat it to the side, “Hold the bitch! What are you guys waiting for. It will die after living for one whole day, unless there’s a stronger soul in it. We started all this not to just back out now!”, they heard Erina yell.

Riley and Wayde rushed to hold it’s tail and arms then with a loud “Sorry”, Erina stabbed the syringe in it’s arm and the serum was injected. It slowly stopped moving and closed it’s eyes back.

Erina got up and looked at every one, “Lets finish this ritual”, she said and went to held her hands over Olivia’s heart, River joined the hands and Wayde took the position of other heart. Riley was having some vocal cords problems, so he stood back. Brandon was witnessing this for the first time as he sat on the chopper and watched. They had all come out of the bloody hall where Veronica’s headless body laid.

Several minutes passed....
