RING. RING. RING

The repetitive familiar bell rang through Li's ears as she woke up from her English class. She had slept through the first four classes of the day and had only woken up to move to her next class or use the bathroom. After her second period lesson, she had escaped to the library to sleep some more, only to be hunted down by Soo-ah. The blondie had let her sleep on the condition that she will sit in the cafeteria during lunch.

The lunch bell just rang and Li was not in the mood to entertain her friends. She took out her earbud, cutting off Dream Glow by BTS and Charli XCX, which was hurting her ear muscles and rubbed it a few times before laying her head back onto her arms.

As she attempted to drift off to sleep, loud footsteps were headed to her direction.

Oh hell no.

'Ahem.' came the voice of Soo-ah, clearly unwilling to let her friend sleep through lunch.

No, god please no.

After a moments pause, Li prayed that the girl had let her slide but she knew better as she braced herself for physical torture.

It wasn't actually torture. She just hated irrelevant moving and Soo-ah was very good at making her do things she didn't want to do.

The blondie had dropped her heavy bag onto Li's head and after a small 'ouch', the noirette had lifted her head to glare lazily at her friend.

Oh my god. That hurt.

The blondette had read her expression but rolled her eyes at her friend's invisible comment and began to drag her friend's lazy ass out of her seat and into the hallways.

By the time, the two had reached the door, Li had unwillingly began to walk by herself, muttering curses in her mind.

'Hey, hey, hey! Don't look at me like that!' yelled Soo-ah. 'You promised.'

Promises are made to be broken.

'Well how emo of you to say that,' she replied to your expression, reading you like always.

It wasn't because Li weren't talkative or expressive. She was just... lazy. And anti-social. And sarcastic. And- well, you get the point.

People always mistook her for being rude (not that she wasn't sometimes) or for being shy. Believe me, she was not shy. She just didn't need friends. Found no reason to have them. Only talked to a select group of people. Nothing more than the necessities.

That's just her.

I'm so tired.

Li had a massive headache pounding through her ears and just wanted to sleep. But that's not going to happen. Not with Soo-ah.

Noticing her friend's emotionless expression, Soo-ah passed her two painkillers and took out a thermos from her bag.

Taking the medicine, Li quickly swallowed the painkillers, ignoring the water as her eyes began to water.

'WOAH THERE! Drink some damm water!,' came the common shouts of her Korean friend, opening the flask of hot water.

No thanks

'LI LING TANG. You have to be more careful sometimes! I even took the time to boil water for you because I know how much you hate cold water today,' Soo-ah pouted as she scolded her friend.

Who are you to lecture me about being careful?

Her blonde friend tilted her head as the duo entered the cafeteria. The moment they stepped into this 'territory' as Li liked to call it, an eruption of applause met their ears. Adding onto the pain from her headache, the loud noises made her head radiate with pure pain. Closing her eyes, attempting to worsen her pain (like that will help), she made her way through to her usual table, right in the goddamm center of the room.

Fuck this.

Taking off her blazer to use as a pillow against the seats of her table, she lay down on the chair, trying to block out all the stupid noises.

Stupid loud things. Why does anything louder than 20 decibels exist?

'HEY. LOOK WHO FINALLY MADE IT HERE.' came a loud and short voice, as the clapping died down.

Not this.

*Li's POV*

'Captainnn~~~~,' came the whines of three similar idiots.

I could feel someone pushing me my shoulder slightly and I groaned.

'What,' I stare at the newcomers.

The girl who had previously 'hey'ed me came into my blurry vision but I recognise her before I saw her.

Annie Lamont.

Standing at 5'7, she was a pretty curly-haired british girl with bright green eyes and red hair. Although she was currently failing 3 subjects, she was the epitome of sports. Willowy and strong, she was one of the most tenacious spikers I have ever met.

I turn to the sound of whines, not that I needed to but because Soo-ah had been trying to catch my eye and I don't want to listen to her rant about me bEiNg cAreLEsS.

Three identical pairs of hazel-brown eyes looked at me as they inch closer and closer to my face.

I change my mind. Let's not.

The Zinovenko Triplets.

All reaching 5'6, the Ukrainian triplets were known for being abnormally stunning, although they were all rather different personality-wise. Fast and intimidating, Esme, Wren and Isla were a fierce and synchronized trio of blockers.

I turn to look away from the puppy-eyed blockers and find myself face to face with the, currently and probably forever, most frustrating person on the planet.

Jung Soo-ah

Always laughing and loud, the 5'6 blonde Korean was definitely one of those girls who could make a living as an actress or singer. With a knack for understanding her weapons, she always makes a clear path for the attackers.

I close my eyes, almost thinking that if I couldn't see her, she won't see me. (hunny it won't work)

'Yea, that's not working,' came the snickers of our tallest friend.

'Try closing your eyes a liiiitttle harder and you'll get there,' laughed the most provocative triplet, Esme.

I feel a muscle on my cheekbones twitch as Wren erupted on laughter. 'Maybe she needs a blindfold so Soo-ah won't see her,' came her suggestive voice.

'Guys, shush. Li, it's ok. You'll become invisible one day,' finished by Isla, the soft jeers of the oldest blocker entering Li's ears smoothly.

I snap my eyes open to glare at them all. Unfortunately, a yawn that threatened to ruin my position caused me to let out a small groan and rest my head onto Soo-ah's shoulder.

'Captain~~~,' returned the voice of Wren. 'Where is your energy?'

Chuckling slightly, Annie turned to me.

'Captain, did you not hear the applause?'

Believe me, I heard it.

I look up at the redhead and she smiled at me. Looking around, the rest of my teammates were also smiling at me. Not in a weird war. Not smiles that tend to suffocate me.

They were gentle smiles.

I look down in my lap.

Then came the soft whisper of my best friend.

'Those were for you,'
