Stranger Alert

My family walks out of the gate back to the two taxis that were eyeing us suspiciously. We get back in as my dad calls out instructions for them in Chinese.

I pulled the back of his jacket to get his attention. 'Yes, sweetie?'

'Dad, what are we doing here?'

'What do you mean?'

I take a breather as my dad looked at me curiously.

'You and your mother clearly have something going on. Mum's been terrified the entire trip and she looks sick. And we aren't allowed to see my sister,' I summarized, half heart-broken.

He patted my back and sat down next to me.

'Honey, my mother and I have a complicated relationship. We've never made up since a problem in the past,'

'Then why don't you fix it? Why leave it like this? It doesn't explain anything and it doesn't make sense,'

He kissed my forehead as the cab exited the estate grounds.

'Em, how badly do you want to meet your sister?' he asks me.

'Dad, I really want to meet her. Oliver and Liam are so close in age and years younger than me and it's lonely sometimes. I want to meet her and find out everything about her. We could be best friends, Dad,'

I pull his arm lightly and he sighs.

'If that's what you want, sweetheart,'

I smile at him and lean my head against the window, feeling a hit of jet lag. I wince at the hardness of the glass and I feel a hand tipping my head to my left. Resting my head on my dad's shoulder, I stare at the land outside.

So beautiful.

*Li's POV*

I walk away carrying my snacks only to be halted by a person in black standing in front of me. I recognize him as the stranger who helped me.

'Can I help you with something?' I ask in Mandarin, still annoyed.

'Yes, actually,'

I raise an eyebrow.

'Well, you see, normally, when someone helps you, you thank them, apologize for bothering them and compensate them for their goodwill,' he says, smoothly.

I hear a light tone in his voice and my cheek twitched underneath my skin. This isn't the first time someone tried hitting on me.

'Thank you for doing the bare minimum as a human being in this disgusting society. I apologize if I was bothering your shopping by not handling it alone in which I fully intended on doing before you intervened,'

I pulled a fake smile and walked around the person in front of me but he pulled me back.

'And the last one?' he asked.

'What do you want?' I snarl.

'Well, normally, people treat them to a meal or pay them,'

His lips raised from behind his mask but I didn't fall for his weird antics.

'You say normal people. I asked you,'

He paused for a second before smiling, taking off his cap. It revealed tufts of wavy brown hair and sliver rimmed glasses. Behind them were a pair of hazel eyes which glinted when he smiled.

'당신은 일을 놓치지 마세요, 당신은?' he laughed. (you don't miss a thing, do you?)

'일반적으로,' I reply, curtly, shocking the Korean boy. (not normally)
