*Soo-ah's POV*
I have never felt more embarrassed in my whole life.
Here I was, playing a game in front of scouts from all around the world, alongside my best friend and I can't even set to my spiker.
The look on Li's face was scary. Calm scary.
I suddenly forgot about everyone else as she glared at me.
I feel words leave my mouth but I don't hear a single sentence and she raised an eyebrow at me.
I clench my fists. She's right.
How can I let myself go because of some random people?
I send Li a look and she nods as I move up to serve.
No apology needed. Just prove that you can move on.
I take a breath and throw the ball up high before running and jumping, sending the ball over the net.
'Shit! It went to the libero,' I scream mentally.
The libero couldn't receive it that smoothly but the setter covered for her, allowing that one Korean girl to spike. I glare at her as she jumped, recognizing her as the girl who was happily talking with Li.
That brunette then spiked it perfectly down the right, a couple feet behind me and I see Li running up so I nod to her and we share a look.
I take a few steps back and begin my run up as Li jumped over the front line and pulling off a perfect libero set to me and I smack the ball down.
I pump my fist, forgetting about all the scouts, the opponents. I just want to be on the court with her forever. She sends me a small smile but this moment is interrupted by an unfamiliar voice. 'The famous minus-tempo attack, huh?'
I turn to the source of these words and I make eye contact with the spiker girl. 'And what about it?'
She shrugged and continued. 'It's pretty famous. Didn't know there was anyone else who could pull of that attack,'
'There isn't,'
We turn to Li who passed the ball back to me so I can serve again. 'That attack is iconic. Few people can closely replicate it like the Miya twins or maybe even Soo-ah and I but that attack is something only Hinata Shoyo and Kageyama Tobio can bend to their will,'
I smile at her, having heard this philosophy many times before. I walk up to the service line and send over another jump serve with a small spin and I watched the other team suffer with the momentum.
They were pretty painless actually, especially compared to Li's spike serves or even her long-low serve. This type of strength in a serve only comes from being taught by someone like Li.
Cheng'er then tried to send the ball back over but I move quickly to spike the ball down before it made it over the net.
7-3.
'YEAAHHH,' I yell, jumping and pumping my fist in the air.
'Soo-ah, babygirl, its one point,' I hear Isla snicker and I glare at her.
'Shut up,' I say to her as the others joined her in laughing.
About half an hour later, we were walking off the court, sweating quite a bit. The score was 25-7. Two sets for Takeshima.
'So versing that powerhouse school wasn't very exciting...,' I begin as I chug my water.
Coach nodded. 'The school itself is more known for its tennis and their team isn't that strong with the exception of Jeon Jiyeon who basically carries the whole school,'
I take in this information before turning to our captain who wasn't even sweating and just eating more frozen fruits.
I sweat drop before taking a glance at the scouts who were conversing with each other in numerous languages, occasionally pointing at one of us or three of us and taking down a few notes or tapping on their laptops or something.
'I really hope I can continue playing volleyball with Li,'
Deep in thought, I didn't even notice the blank gaze coming from someone.
*Li's POV*
I turn back to my iced fruits in front of me and I munch on a particularly large mango, thinking about the expression on Soo-ah's face.
I tried to switch my brain to thinking about the fat chunk of mango in my mouth but all I could think of was her so I decided to, mindlessly, walk over to her and tap her shoulder, spooking her out of her trance, muttering the lyrics to 'Endlessly' by The Cab.
Why do you keep staring at those people?
She blushed before speaking. 'They're not just people, Li. They're scouts for really big teams,'
Why does it matter who they are?
'Well, I, unlike you, do not have a spot as a regular on one of the strongest teams to exist,'
I sense the sarcasm dejection in her voice despite her lame attempt to cover it and I send her another look.
She blushed at my 'words' and then I walked out of the gym with my bag to the change rooms to change into some sports clothes before walking out and practicing volleyball, ignoring the stares of the panting opponents.
I throw the ball around and think about stuff. Just random stuff.
But before I could enter my haven, I was interrupted by a certain annoying Korean girl. 'Heyy, what are you doing?!?'
'Practicing,' I say before walking off, spin-dropping the ball and catching it
97.5. Counter-clockwise. Front.
I open my eyes again to meet the eyes of Jiyeon who was staring at me.
'Can I help you, Jeon-san?'
The said girl blushed, not too differently from another Korean girl who was staring at the duo. 'Do you want to practice with me?'
The brunette almost blew a fuse in excitement and immediately nodded. 'Y-yes and please call me Jiyeon. D-do you want to stretch first?'
'No need,'
'R-really?'
'Mhm,'
'O-oh ok,' she stuttered as she started following me around, watching me. She wasn't the only one though. Almost everyone was watching the two of us. After a minute or so, I started to get slightly irritated and I whipped around to look her in the eye.
'Why don't we play a game?'
I feel the stares enhance and a grin spread across Jiyeon's face. 'We just did but sure,'
'Not that type of game. Let's play one-man-court and lets play it seriously,'
