'Tang Liling,'

*Third Person's POV*

The petite girl walked across the stage to the lady in black. Everyone's eyes were fixed on the tiny girl with the glossy eyes. The girl who wanted the least attention was given the most. But the girl had eyes only on herself and the road ahead.

*Li's POV*

Is she going to a funeral or something? Why do people dress like that?

I shake her hand and bow a neat 45 degrees to the audience as the loud lady person screamed in our ears. 'Tang Liling, captain of volleyball team, regular of three years,'

There was a loud round of applause and the girl walk over to the rest of her teammates, staring off into the distance.

But for once, there was a single daydream in her eyes. Her eyes were upfront and focused as she looked at the audience.

*Third Person's POV*

And that made them very proud.

~Timeskip~

The two roommates had just finished packing up all their stuff in their shared home and were currently passing it onto the movers who will take care of majority of their stuff.

After the duo finished, the taller of the two starts to prepare dinner in the kitchen and the shorter starts heads upstairs where she takes drags down her suitcase and her backpack to the living room.

As Li dragged the suitcase down the last stair, the doorbell rang. Walking over to the front door, Li took out her phone pressing onto a familiar contact. The door is opened and the smiles of the rest of the team walked into the house.

The black phone in the girls small hand began to ring as she ushered the girls out of the freezing cold. Noises could be heard from the kitchen and they gathered into the conjoined living room where they began to take out bags, a delicious smell coming from the holes in the plastic.

'You guys don't have to ring everytime, you know,' came the voice of the Korean girl.

There was laughter but the ringing had stopped and static filled the air.

'Ah ma?' Li asked. (its grandma in her dialect which is the sister dialect of cantonese)

'Oh, ah li,' came a voice through the static. 'xiang-muat-yie?' (what do you want)

*Taishanese to English from here on*

'Nothing, grandma. Just wanted to call,'

There was a small silence.

'I graduated today,'

'I'm so proud of you, little Li,'

'Thanks, grandma and thanks for the gift,'

The girl eyed the large basket sitting next to a plate of fruit.

'You didn't think I would forget, did you?'

'Of course not. Have you eaten?'

'Hmm,'

There was a silence and Li felt a small ache in her heart.

'Take care of yourself, please,'

'I always do, little lady. Oh, I watched your graduation live. Your coach sent a ZOOM to me, whatever that is,'

She took notice that her grandma changed the topic but continued the conversation.

'Really? How nice of her,'
