'Those were for you,'
I zone out a little, not understanding what Soo-ah meant by those words.
Tiny giggles were muffled around me as I snap back to reality.
'Li-ahh, you're so cute when you're like that,' Soo-ah laughed softly.
I return my face to its normal appearance, dulling my eyes and closing my slightly parted mouth.
I don't know what you're talking about.
She snickered again as she effortlessly read my expression and returned it with one of her own.
'Lies,'
Rolling my eyes internally, I turn back to Wren who was seated on my right, pulling out a loose thread from her blazer.
'Oh? Thanks,' she grinned.
*Soo-ah's POV*
I watch Li revert back to her usual emotionless features and I smile. It's funny how no one understands us, except each other. People I've known for years still find it hard to read me and everyone in the entire world cannot understand Li one bit. From an outsider's perspective, her face never changes. But if you understand her personality, her face becomes an open book. Like mind-reading. Laughing to myself, I think of how different the two of us are, yet how close and similar we are.
Well I've known her for 6 years. That's just the connection we have.
I watch as Li analyses the triplets and notice a small pause in her mind gears.
'Li, what's wrong?' I ask my smallest friend.
'Wren, Esme, Isla, did something happen to you three?' came her voice.
Uh oh.
Something must've happened or Li wouldn't have talked. Most days, she says an average of 5 words. Today, I've already annoyed her and now the tricky trio's messed up.
'Huh? What do you mean?' came Esme's innocent voice.
'Bad move. Should've got Wren to say that,'
We turn to her. Between the triplets, Esme was the provocative one. Always subtly egging people on. Isla's intimidation comes from using a soft tone to allow her jeers to enter the ears of her opponents smoothly before revealing her final blow. Wren was the suggestive one. Constantly giving small hints of 'advice' to her enemies.
They must've done something bad if Li noticed it that quickly. Seeing as she never partakes in conversation and always closes her eyes and recharges while taking care of our teammates from the shadows.
'You three got into a fight last night, didn't you?'
I shivered at her tone. Slightly louder than usual and her eyes were more full than usual. Must be a Level 2 problem.
The accused trio immediately broke out in another loud and confusing bag of excuses. I guess they're getting their asses beat in training today.
All of a sudden, the three stopped bickering and I felt another shiver. I turn to my bestie to see her usual resting bitch face and a slight muscle twitch under her cheekbones.
Li Ling Tang.
5'4 and small, she has excellent observation skills based off character type and physical sense. With a 7th sense for basically everything, she is the backbone, soul and brain of our problematic team.
Standing on the front lines whilst also operating from the back, she is our libero captain.
But always my ace.
