~Flashback~

It was just after the Li's strange family had left when her Grandma pulled me in to whisper in my ear.

'Soo-ah, do you understand what would happen if Li saw her family again?'

'Well, I assume that she would be surprised,'

'Possibly. More importantly, she would be furious,'

'What? Why?'

She looked into my eyes with her own dark ones, the same ones Li inherited.

'Soo-ah, how much about Li's parents do you know?'

'Just that she hasn't seen them in a long time. Did something happen to them?'

'Soo-ah...

Li's never met her parents,'

~Back to Present~

We enter the main house but Li's expression... it's unreadable and even normally I could get a gist of what she's thinking but she's...

She's shutting me out.

This was what she didn't tell me. Everything makes a lot more sense now. My confusion bubbles up again as I recall the strange messages that I had received from the person who claimed to be Li's sister. I look up into the nervous eyes of the girl that I had saw yesterday.

I sigh as the two of us walk in.

*Li's POV*

I don't really understand anything right now as I stared down at the floor, my hair covering my eyes. I close them, trying to enter my own universe but it doesn't come. Everything gets louder and my heart starts beating through my ears.

'Li. Li!'

I snap my eyes open to a concerned blondette staring at me. 'Li-ah, are you ok?'

Honestly, no but fake it until we make it, right?

She grimaced but pulled out a small smile.

Ok, let's do this.

I find myself seated in my living room, surrounded by people I don't know. Lucky for me, I have Soo-ah on one side, holding my left hand secretly and I have Grandma on the right, leaning against the couch, her palm on my shoulder.

I feel eyes staring at me but it was uncomfortable, unlike at the other stares that was often sent my way. There was two boys and a girl who looked around Soo-ah's age. There was also a woman and a man, both of whom looked to be in their 30's.

Mother. Father.

Two words that are foreign to me. I feel flashes of anger as my confusion builds up. I'm at a loss for words. What an uncommon feeling.

Then again, this is an uncommon event.

I motion to Soo-ah for her to say something. Like anything. She looked panicked but stood up anyway.

'So, I'm Jung Soo-ah. It's nice to meet you all,'

I don't dare reveal my face as Soo-ah led this unwanted meeting.

'I'm also a student of XinShan and I've been by Li's side for 6 years. Like most XinShan families, we don't know much about each other's families but we're very close. I've lived with her for 5 years and we studied abroad together,'

Geez, thanks for the introduction.

She sat back down.
