" Mom... it's really you."
" Gar-Gar?... Oh my sweet Gar-Gar! You're alive!"
Katelyn and Aphmau both looked very confused.
" Gar-Gar?"
" Okay, so I wasn't the only one who heard that."
Alex reappeared for a quick second." You aren't going to use that against him, are you?"
" Only slightly."
The tallest of the three girls sighed before vanishing from the dimension again, as all three of the people watching the reunion returned to silence in order to listen to what Garroth and his mother were saying.
" Gar-Gar... where have you been?"
" Now isn't the best time to get into that, mother. I don't know how long I have, I've got a friend keeping watch but I don't think even she could hold off an entire group of Tu'la guards. Where's father?"
" I... I don't know where your father is. I did overhear he was being held captive somewhere, hopefully cooling his head off... Gar-Gar, it's like I'm looking at a ghost, what are you doing here? After all these years?"
" It's... a rather long story. I'll tell you everything when we're in better company, I promise... Mommy, why have you been arrested? Why would Tu'la want to put you in jail? Who would want to do this to you?"
A guard walked past the opposite side of the alleyway, causing Garroth to duck into the indent for the prison window and the other three to confer amongst themselves.
" Aphmau... Alex..."
" I know, it's getting really dangerous to be here."
The freckled girl reappeared." I agree, as glad as I am that Garroth got to reunite with his mother, he is right about the fact that we can't hold off the Tu'la guards, and even if we could, a battle would draw way too much attention to our being here."
The three nodded before slipping into the alleyway.
" Garroth..." Aphmau spoke to her friend before turning to look at the woman in the cell." Lady Ro'meave, I'm sorry to break up the family reunion, but we need to go."
" A-Aphmau...?"
" We won't be able to get your mother out if we're caught ourselves."
" Y-yes..."
" Yeah, like one of those many Tu'la guards walking around... have the guards increased since we've been here?"
" I believe so."
" Right, that would be bad."
" Really, really bad."
" So let's not do that."
Lady Ro'meave spoke up." Garroth, what's going on? W-who are these people? I thought you said you only had one friend keeping a lookout."
Alex gave a nervous smile and a hand wave, but before she could speak, a voice came from elsewhere in the near vicinity.
" Hey bro, you hear anything?"
A different voice responded." Nah bruh, but if you do, there must be something. You want to go check it out?"
" Yeah, I could've sworn I heard something. Sounded like talking over in the cells. Give me a second, I gotta get my armor on right."
