Lost ( The Non-Cannon Chronicles; Episode 5)

     " 'Lex, we've been on the move all day," Lilith complained." Can we please rest?"

     Alex turned to her companions to see how they felt on the matter, and after getting a nod from both Garroth and Dante, set down the brown-haired child.

     " We'll make camp here for the night," the freckled girl declared." But I don't think we can risk a fire. We'll have to sleep in the cold for the night, and for every night until we get to the nearest town."

     " Alex," Hyria said as the relic carrier busied herself around the clearing they'd found, moving around rocks to provide space for everyone to sleep." You still haven't explained how you knew where we were."

     " Right... take a seat, I'll do my best to explain things to you, but Emmalyn has more of the full story, she was the first to get captured by the werewolves."

     " Oh!" The librarian seemed a little surprised the topic of conversation had been moved onto her." Right... A month or so, or more I've completely lost track of time, ago, I... Zane came into Phoenix Drop and captured me to research the Heart of Darkness for him. After he... well... I eventually got away, but got captured by the werewolves shortly afterward. They asked me some questions about Lady Aphmau, and I accidentally mentioned Phoenix Drop."

     " They arrived around two weeks ago," Alex continued for her friend." Dante, Garroth, and I went to meet them on the docks, and after telling them Aphmau wasn't around, they took us captive as well. Unfortunately, it's my fault they brought you here. When we met up with Emmalyn, she asked if you were safe, and I told her you were in the forest, but someone must've been listening in..."

     " It's alright child."

     Alex thanked Hyria before continuing." After realizing we didn't know where Aphmau was in the slightest, they just kept us there, so Garroth and I came up with a method of keeping in touch when kept in different rooms. It started with just handing notes to each other under the table, but once they started giving us our meals in our rooms so we couldn't gather together even if it was just to eat, we had to adapt. We started sending things from room to room, like flowers or normalize letters, while hiding the other letters within the gifts. According to some werewolves I overheard, they just thought it was a very odd form of courting."

     " And how did you find us? I doubt it was by accident, you wouldn't have just hung around the rode after escaping."

     " Yesterday there were some werewolves talking just outside the door of the room Dante and I were in," Garroth explained, joining the conversation." Talking about how some of their scouts by Phoenix Drop had gotten three people from the forest, and I had a feeling they were talking about you, so I contacted Alex immediately."

     " And from there, Emmalyn and I constructed the plan."

      " The werewolves just happened to be talking loud enough for you to hear? Or were you trying to overhear them?"

     " The first one, they didn't seem to see us as a threat, from what I heard, they thought we were just harmless Lords of the town, not any good at planning of fighting. They were obviously wrong."

     Hyria nodded with approval." You did a good job, now let's rest. I want to get back to a town as soon as possible."

     " Alright, both of you, you can't stay in the pond forever, come on," Alex smiled at the two children swimming around a small pond they'd found on their journey.

     " But 'Lex!" Lilith complained." You said we could spend as much time as we wanted swimming since we'd been so good the rest of this journey."

     " I did say that, I won't deny it, however, your mother would say the same. We've been here for two hours, and the sooner we get on the road again, the sooner we can get you two home."

     " Alright, come on 'Lina, let's get out of the pond."

     " There you go, now let's just get your shoes on and-" Alex suddenly stopped speaking as she noticed someone emerging from the forest." Forget the shoes, just get back to the others and tell them to get out of here."

      " But Lex-"

      " Go!"

     Alex pulled out her dagger as the two children ran back into the woods, as Zane entered the clearing.

     " I should've guessed you were still in these woods somewhere."

     " You got your Librarian back?"

     " No thanks to you."

     " Alex, Lilith and Alina came back yelling about-" Garroth ran into the clearing, before being cut off by the sight of his brother." Oh. It's you."

     " How charming, my brother to the rescue again."

     " You killed Kenmur."

      " Yes," Zane responded." Yes, I did. And neither of you were there to stop it."

      " This- All of this- is your fault."

     " I'd assume it is. Now give me back the heart."

     " We don't have it," Garroth answered." It's at least a mile away by now."

     Zane grumbled to himself for a moment before darting into the woods, in the direction he'd seen Alina and Lilith run.

     Alex turned to her friend." Thank you, you didn't have to come back to help."

     " I needed to make sure you were alright, I didn't know if the werewolves had come back, and even though you can handle yourself normally, if they had that magic canceling person, that might've caused a problem."

     " Again, thank you... now we just have to hope Hyria and Dante are keeping the others safe. How long will it take to walk back to the town we were at this morning?"

     " We could hopefully arrive by this time tomorrow, though it'll be slower without the horses and wagon."

     " Then we'd better get a move on."
