" Alright, I've memorized their routines and managed to get a map from the neighboring town, hopefully with this information..." Alex quickly trailed off, comparing notes that were now scattered around the table.
" We can find out their strategy and come up with a way around it," Garroth finished for her, sitting down next to his friend." Let's start with guard shifts."
" Gaurd shifts last one hour each," the freckled girl recited." When a shift ends, the next guard comes to where the first guard is to switch spots, meaning there are double the guards at that exact time, so that's the worst time to attack, they can smell who are werewolves and who aren't, so that stops us from trying to disguise ourselves as guards."
" Right. Patrol happens every three hours, meaning eight times a day, consistently. Meal times are three times a day, at seven, twelve, and seven again. Lots of wolves there, lots of opportunities for people to get hurt."
" So those are the times we avoid. Werewolves don't have a disadvantage even after night falls, so there's not a specific time we should attack. We're going to have a huge disadvantage, especially with only two people, even if we had an army this would still be difficult."
" And if we did have an army?"
" If we did have an army we could send sneak attacks along the wall, taking out all the guards long before their shifts, and we could sneak through the town easily, but we don't have an army. Our problem is the guards on the wall, because as soon as we get up there or anywhere close, we'll be way too outnumbered."
" Then the question is where we could get an army."
Alex looked confused for a split second before automatically beginning to think the idea through." Phoenix Drop has allies, and even if we can't risk sending a letter to the capital, we can at least head to some of those cities and villages ourselves. We can cut through the forest, head to O'khasis to ask your mother for help."
" First thing tomorrow I'll head that way."
" Okay, I'll pack a bag and we'll leave as soon as the suns up!"
" Wait," Garroth stopped her." I'm going to take care of this alone, it's too dangerous."
" I thought we discussed this already, I'm strong enough to handle myself in dangerous situations. Besides, O'khasis is under the rule of your mother, I doubt there will be any dangers there or on the war there, and even if there are, you admitted yourself that I can take care of myself when it comes to it."
" I know, but I was nearby to help, and-"
" And? Just because I was raised a Fae doesn't mean I'm any less human than you. Or that I can't fight my own battles. I've been doing this all of my life. I chose to stay in the Irene Dimension and I dealt with that. I broke into O'khasis multiple times. I created the plan to get us away from the Werewolves. I'm not only safe when you're nearby to help."
" Look, I just don't want you to get hurt, and I know you can take care of yourself, I just still worry." He sighed." I'm not going to stop you from coming along, just if anything happens, don't try and take anyone down by yourself."
Alex smiled," I never have... see you in the morning."
A/N: Another, sadly, shorter chapter which was more just for the characters than for the plot overall. Then again, this is the first time I've posted on a weekend in ages, for whatever reason I've been so determined to write every day now that I'm on the final stretch for this trilogy. As always I hope someone at least somewhat enjoyed this chapter, please comment if you feel like it, any to all comments make my day, and have a good day!
