"Your chocolate chip cream, Ms. Selene," Nicole handed me my drink. I muttered a quick "Thank you" to her, and she smiled back at me before returning to the counter.

It was already the middle of the night, and here I was at the coffee shop that my aunt and I manage. I had nowhere else to go. I was bored at home, and I needed some fresh air outside the mansion—and, of course, a sip of my favorite drink.

"Selene, are you even listening?" My thoughts returned to the screen in front of me when Aunt Faye spoke again. She was at the mansion, worried as always whenever I went out late, so video chatting had become a habit for us.

"Yes, Aunt. Ano nga po pala 'yun?" I asked her, grimacing slightly. I noticed her rolling her eyes at me before looking back at the camera.

"I said, come home before 11 and make sure to return the motorbike keys to me as soon as you get back," she said. My eyes quickly darted to the motorbike parked just outside the shop.

Did I mention that I was grounded? Leaving the mansion in the middle of the night was on the list of prohibited actions for me. I couldn't even remember why I was grounded in the first place, but here I was anyway.

"I'll head back after finishing this," I said, showing her my frappé through the screen.

"You better make sure, Selene, or else I'll cut your weekly allowance," she threatened, pointing at the screen. Even though she was miles away, I could still feel her strictness.

I no longer have parents—or rather, they passed away a long time ago. Like one of those cliché Disney stories where parents cease to exist. That's how I remember my childhood. Since then, my aunt has been my guardian.

"And make sure to bring me my strawberry frappé," she added, pouting. I couldn't help but shake my head and smile at her antics.

"Yes, ma'am," I replied sarcastically, grinning. Despite her strictness, I love her and always will. As she often says, she only acts this way because she loves me and wants to protect me.

"Hey, waitress! Where's my order?" My attention shifted to a sharp-voiced woman yelling in the coffee shop. Only a few customers were left, so I easily spotted her. Not to be judgmental, but she looked like one of those self-entitled women who thought they owned the place just because they could shout at the staff. I disliked her instantly.

"Here it is, Ma'am." Nicole quickly approached her, placing the drink on her table. The woman snatched it and sipped it, glaring at Nicole the entire time.

Nicole bowed her head and turned to leave, but she hadn't taken two steps before the woman's shrill voice echoed again. "What is this? I ordered cappuccino! Does this look like cappuccino to you?"
