Maegan's POV

"That's terrible," Rachel's mother said after I explained why Hannah would be moving in with my aunt. "You just have to do what's best for her."

I nodded along. "Yeah, and I'm sure Hannah will end up coming down a couple times or I might meet her halfway somewhere. Rachel can see her then. I just hope I'm doing the right thing."

"If her grades don't improve, I say she should just move back down," her mother said.

"Don't let Hannah hear that. She'll just fool around up there to come back, but I have doubts that that will happen. I'm hoping she can make up some tests this next week and replace her grades. It probably won't do any good." A few seconds went by. "I have to go take care of some things. I'll be back around 7 to pick up Hannah."

"That's fine, dear," Rachel's mom said. She was a sweet lady. I'd love to be friends with her, but she was twenty years older than me and had her partying days behind her. I was still young.

I left from dropping off Hannah and had to meet Ashton at my spot on the beach. I had called him after Hannah told me to. I probably would've called him without her telling me to, but then again, I'm not so sure I would've.

Ashton was already sitting on the rocks as I walked up to him. "Hey," I said as I sat down beside him. He had two drinks with him that I noticed were from Starbucks.

"Hey, I don't know how you like your coffee, or if you like coffee at all, so I got hot chocolate. It's kind of cool out tonight, so I figured this would be good," he said. He handed me one of the drinks.

"Thanks, I love hot chocolate more than coffee." Ashton smiled. I took a sip. "Sucks you don't have any marshmallows."

"I was thinking about getting some. I should've swung by the store," he rambled.

"Easy, Ashton," I said. I laid a hand on his shoulder. "I'm messing with you." He chuckled and took a sip of his drink.

"Uh- how's things with Hannah--or do you not want to talk about it?"

I looked out over the ocean. "I guess she's okay, but I don't want to talk about it really. This place helps me get my mind off of things."

"Understandable." I took another sip of my hot chocolate. "Guess what."

"What?" I asked.

"I'm going on tour," Ashton answered. "It won't even be a monthly thing, but it's going to be the best thing. We're going over the west coast, playing shows, meeting actual fans."

"Oh, no. You're going to go off and become a rockstar and forget all about me," I joked.

"Excuse you? I already am a rockstar," Ashton snared. I laughed. "But I think I have a pretty good memory. I won't forget about you."

"You better not," I said. There was some silence. "I'm happy for you." There was some more silence. Ashton sighed like a sigh of relief. "What?"

"This is so relaxing," he said. "Did you ever tell me how you found this place?"

"I don't remember if I did or not. I probably didn't." I took a deep breath. "I was probably 5, so Hannah wasn't born yet. My parents brought me to the beach, down the way where it's really busy." I pointed to the left of me. "Anyway, my parents were setting up, and it was spring break. My dad was complaining about how he hated the visitors. I wanted to help him out, so I decided to find my own quiet place. Long story short, my parents freaked when they couldn't find me. It took them a while to find me. They had half the beach looking for me, and the other half were too drunk to walk. When they found me, my dad wanted to know where I went, so I brought my parents over here. Or that's what my parents told me. They'd go into more detail and the story would never change whenever the told me, so I don't think they lied."

"This place just stuck with you? After all those years?" Ashton asked.

"I guess," I said. I looked over the ocean again and felt eyes burning my skin. I looked at Ashton. "Don't look at me."

"I was looking past you," he objected.

"Don't deny it when I caught you looking at me," I said with a small smile. Ashton smiled.

"I guess I couldn't help it," he said. He looked forward. He was biting his lip, and he looked up at me. "Now, you were looking at me, and don't try to deny it."

"You're an idiot!" someone yelled.

"You threw it, so shut up!" someone yelled back. Two kids were running over to what looked like a frisbee. "Mom is going to kill us." I watched as the two kids raced back, probably to their mother.

"That doesn't happen often," I said.

What happened next didn't happen often either. Ashton kissed me.

He pulled back first.

"That was," I trailed off. "That was unexpected."

"I couldn't help myself," he finally spoke. All I did was nod and try to fight back a smile. When Ashton and I locked eyes, we both cracked a smile with a laugh. I personally felt awkward in this situation, but I don't know about Ashton. Awkward is a two way street.

"I don't usually do that," Ashton spoke again. "Kissing girls. I mean, I kiss girls. I just don't go out and meet a girl just to kiss her."

I nodded. "I didn't think that."

"Good, so I can do it again?" he asked. I bit my lip and nodded. Ashton gave me another kiss.

"What time is it?" I asked right after.

"Uh." Ashton looked at his phone. "Almost 6:45."

"I got to go," I said. I picked up my hot chocolate.

"So you're Cinderella? When the clock strikes 7, are you going to change or something?"

I shook my head. "I have to go pick up Hannah. We can pick up where we left off tomorrow or something. Text me tonight." Ashton rose beside me. He walked with me off the rocks.

"Was it the kiss?" he asked.

"Not at all. I really have to pick Hannah up," I said. "I really was having fun."

"Then, we will continue this tomorrow. Promise?"

"Promise."

Ashton and I went our separate ways. I don't know where he went, but I went to pick up Hannah. I didn't brag about what happened with Ashton.

It was a moment for some poetry.

(A/N- I saw a poem a long time ago that I am personally in love with. I feel like it would be perfect for this. It's short or whatever, but it will be in here sooooooooooooon.)
