Crystal Dwight’s POV
Ryle’s response was hilarious when I teased him about those ghost things. He got frightened easily. Maybe he was not used of hearing the sound of the wild birds wandering at night. Most of the elders believes that their sounds brings a sign whether it will rain or not the next day. Our Lolo is one of the people who believes in that myth.
I met some of my old friends. I remembered when I was a child, I was like them too.
“This is more genuine,” Ellaine asserted while chewing her food.
“What is more genuine?” Johnny asked.
“Ito!” She wandered around her eyes, studying the surrounding. “Look, the people here smiles genuinely unlike the gatherings I went to before, it’s full of fake personalities,” she pronounced.
Zyah gave her a puzzled stares. “Huh? What do you mean, Laine?”
“You know, everyone thinks only for their benefits. They are smiling in front of you but at the back, they are looking for loopholes to bring you down.” She shook her head and and let out a disappointed smile.
“That’s how it works anyway,” Johnny agreed.
“Mukhang nega usapan natin, ah? Switch tayo sa iba,” Zyah advised.
“Oh, Dale. Topic daw.” Johnny smirked.
“What? I am eating,” he replied with a fork on his hand.
“Hala, Zy!” Ryle started. “He choose to eat than to give you a topic!” he playfully uttered.
Dale glared at him and then diverted her gaze to Zyah. He passed the bowl of salad to Zyah. “Just eat, woman.”
I couldn’t help but to admire the way Dale called Zyah. It sounds different. Usually when he was talking to other people, he sounds bland but not that bored. However, when it comes to Zyah, it seemed there is a tone of his voice that only activates when he was talking to Zyah. It loses its effectiveness on others.
“Why gave me the entire bowl?” Zyah asked, shocked.
Before Dale could respond Ryle interrupted. “Kami, Dale? Kumakain din kami!”
We laughed at the way he uttered his words.
“Kumain ka na nga lang, Ryle.” Tinapik ko ang braso niya.
“Thank you, my Dwight. I will eat now,” he said and started turning his attention to his food.
Some of them dance and other sings. They are so cute. There are some adults that joined the fun, entertaining us all. Johnny and Ellaine joined too. They performed as duo. It was nearly 1 o’clock in the morning when the event finished. We all went back to our homes with the heart filled with love.
We spent every minute of our remaining time having fun. We wander around the place, we talked on our reflection on how our year goes on, we talked about our passion and dreams. We went with Lolo and Lola to the church.
“Dwight!” Ryle called, peeking at the opened door.
“Ano?” I replied while closing the zip of my suitcase.
