oh look a pov from ya boi cal

Calum

I shut my room door, blocking out my sister and parents, as usual. I threw my backpack on the ground below my bed, lying straight on my back letting out a deep sigh. School is so stressful and I wish I could just run away, I'm a school smart kind of kid, but even for me I think my classes are too hard for me. To make my mom and dad proud, I took honours courses, which are more difficult than normal classes. I had the choice to graduate early but I couldn't leave everyone behind. Last year I was taken into the counselling office and was told I had a choice to grad early, and move onto university with people much smarter and older than me. But I strongly declined, strongly. Plus Brin would kill me if I ever left her.

My thoughts were abrupt by my phone ringing at the foot of my bed. I grasped for it, groaning because I was so tired I couldn't even reach far enough. "Hello?" I said. I just heard heavy breathing on the other end, I didn't check who was calling so I was sort of terrified. "Hello?" I said again, after hearing thirty seconds of this creep breathing heavily.

"I'm picking you up in 10."

But of course, it was her.

Then she hung up, just like that. She hasn't called me randomly like this in a very long time, which was weird. But I guess since her and Ashton ""broke up"" as I like to say, she doesn't have anyone anymore. I wanted nothing more but for them to get back together already. They haven't talked since that heated fight they had at her house, at least that's what I've been told.

She didn't even give me time to breath, or politely decline.

I picked up my bag from the floor, reaching for my phone and wallet, routinely entering it in my pockets. Fucking Brin and her spontaneous shit, I thought. I love her and all, but she was kind of pushy, not clingy, but needy, but also not at the same time. She's hard to explain, but also very, very complex. I shifted down the stairs, passing my parents in the kitchen. I didn't have to tell them where I was going anymore because they always know I'm either (1) Going to tutor some year 10 students or (2) hanging out with Brinley. They never question my whereabouts anymore because it's always the same old answer to all their same old questions.

She drove for about twenty minutes, I had no idea where we were going, and she wouldn't answer my constant where are we going questions. But when does she ever tell me where were going. She pulled up into this private parking lot, which worried me. It was the parking for this very large building, made from reflective glass.

"Why are we in the city?" I wondered.

No answer.

She climbed out the car, going around the jeep towards the entrance of the very tall building. The building was dark, but it was still light out, which was weird. "Why are they closed, it's like five pm." I spoke.

"Just wait." That was the first time she talked since she picked me up.

She tried pulling the see through, glass door with the classy, large, and metal handle. Then she tried to push. I chuckled at her trying to open the door, struggling. She hummed, scratching her head. I was a little shocked.

"The wild Brinley Rey has no answer?" I mocked, in full sarcasm.

"Shut up and hold this." She threw me her Adidas black, sports bag from her shoulders.

"Holy, shit what's in here?" I groaned at the weight of the bag. I swung it around my shoulder, not daring to look in because she was always full of surprised. I watched her as she got onto her knees, face to face with the door handle. She patted her head, finding something, then finally pulling out a thing black bobby pin. She patted down her head again, but not finding anything this time.
