Chapter 6

Karas POV

Today was Sunday and Jo was still sleeping and it was around 10,

"She probably hasn't had a good nights sleep" Lena says and I agree, she was making a late breakfast when Jo came out

"Good morning, how did you sleep?"  I ask

"Morning, and really good" she chuckles sitting down next to me

"Well tonight Is game night, do you think you're
Up for that?" I ask

"Game night?"

"It's just a couple of our friends we get together, or at least try to once a week for a game night, my friend is bringing her daughter" Lena explains

"Sounds fun"Jo says and we all sit down to eat breakfast, after breakfast we all went to get dressed and once I finished I heard a little knock on my door

"Come in" I say and Jo walks in

"Could you braid my hair again?" She ask nervously

"Yea of course, come here" I say patting my bed and she sits down as I run the brush through her hair and braid both sids like the night before

"Thank you" she says and I walk out after her

"What's on the agenda today?" Lena ask

"Anything you want to do Jo?" I ask her and she shakes her head

"Not really" she responds

"Okay, how about we just stay in and get to know each other a little more?" Lena suggests and we all agree sitting down on the couch

"So what's your favorite color?" Lena ask Jo

"Pink and Blue" she responds

"Favorite subject in school?"

"Science"

"Middle name?"

"Harper"

"Ohh I like that, Josephine Harper" I smile

"Why do you go by Jo?" I ask her

"I don't really know, it was hard for the little kids at the orphanage to pronounce Josephine so they just started calling me Jo" she explains

"Would you rather us call you Josephine?" Lena ask

"It doesn't matter, Jo is fine"'she smiles and we nod

"Can I ask questions?" She ask

"Of course"

"I know what Lena does for work but what about you Kara?"

"I'm a reporter for Catco magazine"

"That's cool, wait- you're Kara Danvers? You are the one who writes about Lena all the time" she says and I smile

"That's true" I chuckle

"I think you would make a good couple" she smirks and my face gets red, and Lena smiles

"Maybe one day" Lena says, did she really just say that? Does she feel the same way? I don't know what to think now, we finish off with a few more questions before getting everything ready for game night which is now hosted here since I moved out of my loft,

We finished getting some games out when there was a knock at the door

"I'll get it" I say and walk over to open it,

"Hey, you must be Sam? And Ruby?" I ask and she nods

"Correct! Thank you for inviting us" she says and I let them in

"Of course, I'm glad you could make it" I say and we walk over to Lena

"Jo, this is Ruby, Ruby, Jo, I think you guys are close in age" I say

"I'm 12" Ruby says

"Then yea, Jo just turned 14" Lena explains

"Can I go to the room?" Jo ask and I nod

"I'm going to go talk to her I'll be back" I say and follow her down to her room

"What's up?" I ask her

"Nothing, I'm just tired is all," she says obviously lying

I sit down on her bed with her and took her hand in mine

"What's really bugging you?" I ask

"I don't have any friends, I don't like to make friends" she sighs

"Why not?" I ask

"Because, once they find out about the orphanage they make fun of me" she says quietly

"Ruby doesn't know any of that, I don't even think she knows we adopted you, for all she knows we are your birth parents, and she seems like a really nice girl, why don't you go give it a shot?" I ask and she nods following me back out,

By this time, Winn and James had shown up, all that was left was Alex and she walked in 5 minutes later

"Hey, I know I'm sorry I'm late I- Sam?" She starts then stops

"Alex Hey" Sam replies and Lena shoots me a questioning look and I just smile back at her

"What are you doing here? Not that I'm not happy to see you I'm just, you know what I'll stop talking" Alex says and laughs nervously

"I could ask you the same thing. I work with Lena" she smiles

"Ohhhh, makes sense and Kara is my sister" Alex explains and smiles very one looking at the two

"Okay let's get started" Lena says

Josephines POV

Everyone was playing games and it was fun, a little too fun, I haven't experienced any of this and it just seemed to good to true, Ruby was nice and we talked a lot and I have her my number of the phone Lena had gotten me, when kara mentioned the thing about my parents I kind of thought back on them, who knew this was how I was going to end up and if they knew everything they wouldn't want me anymore, I decided that I was going to leave before they had a chance to throw me out,

Everyone was taking a break from games now while they restocked on snacks,

"Hey Kara" I say walking into the kitchen

"Yea?" She ask

"Is it alright if I head to bed now? I'm just really tired" I explain and she looks at me then nods

"Yea of course, goodnight love" she say and gives me a hug as I make my way back to the room, I quickly change into the clothes I got adopted in and wrote a note basically thanking them for everything, I left the phone and grabbed my book bag with only the things I had brought and waited for them to become distracted in the game again when I snuck out the front door,

It was almost 8'o'clock and I was walking down the streets going to the only place I knew, the orphanage,

I made it there and I walked in with Ms.Nancy looking at me

"They sent you back already? I should have known" she smirks and I walk back up to the other girls

"Jo? What you doing here?" Lily asked me, she was only 4

"I came back to see you" I say and pick her up sitting down on one of the cots.

"I thought you had a family now?" Emily says, she was 10

"Yea well they didn't want me anymore, it was nice but it was too nice, something was bound to happen, so I left before they could throw me out" I explain and she nods sadly

"I'm sorry Jo" she replies

"It's okay, only 4 more years" I sigh and Lily had fallen asleep on me so I lay her down and laid on the floor next to her,

"Goodnight me" I sigh
