Chapter 24

Karas POV

We got all of our things unpacked and we headed back downstairs, Lena and I would sleep in my bed and Alex and Sam would share her bed and The girls would  sleep in the spare room but I have a feeling we will end up with Emery in our bed,

"So I was thinking, the girls and I would bake some cookies while Kara and Alex showed you around town?" Eliza suggest

"Is that okay with you?" We ask the girls and they nod. Emery loves to bake

"Okay " Alex smiles and we say goodbye to the girls and the four of us start around town

"Why didn't you tell me you had finally gotten together" Alex says and punches my arm

"We wanted it to be a surprise" I smile holding Lenas hand

"You better be good to her Luthor" Alex threatens

"Alex!" I say and hit her back

"Ouch" she frowns and rubs her arm

"You're fine" I say and Lena smiles as we continue to show them some of the shops, Midvale is a pretty small town and everyone pretty much knows everyone, especially Alex and I, we got into a little bit of trouble when we were teenagers

Josephines POV

I liked this, Eliza I mean. In past homes when we would meet the family they always looked at us as foster kids or orphans and always treated us differently than the other kids.

We just  put the cookies in the oven and Emery and Ruby were playing some game Eliza brought down to them

"What are you thinking about?" She ask me

"Nothing" I say

"I don't buy it, you remind me a lot of Kara when she was first adopted" she tells me

"Why?" I ask

"Well, Kara had a lot of doubts at first. Her and Alex didn't get along in the slightest. Alex didn't like that someone was coming into the family and Kara picked up on that. She doubted her belonging in this family for so long. We would remind her that she does and she would be happy for a while and we could tell when she would stop being happy the thoughts had come back" she tells me. And it's exactly how I feel, I love Kara and Lena but I just feel like a burden a lot

"I love them, I really do and I appreciate everything they have done for Emery and I but you're right.... sometimes I feel bad for uprooting their life's to accommodate us" I sigh

"I think, you're exactly what they needed. Kara and Lena are starting their family and they started with you. When Kara talks about you both her face lights up, we FaceTimed a little while ago while planning this trip and she was just so happy and could go on and on about how wonderful you both are. I know it might be tuff sometimes but it'll get better, " she tells and I nod,

I often forget that Kara was also adopted as a teenager, you spend your life loving your family then one day it all is gone and you live with new people,

"Thank you" I say and the timer on the oven goes off and Emery comes running in with Ruby behind her

"Cookies!" She giggles and comes over to me

"I love you Josephine" she says and walks back over to Eliza

Lenas POV

It was really nice to see where Kara is from, well after Krypton. We walked around a good bit and if I wasn't used to being in heels all day I'm sure my feet would hate me,
We walked past their old school and Alex and Kara were telling us stories. Turns out Kara was a trouble maker. Who knew?

"You think the house is still standing?" Alex jokes as we make our way back to Elizas

"Eliza survived with us I'm sure she is okay" Kara smiles

"See before today I would have thought you two were angel kids" Sam adds and they start laughing

"Alex hated me when I was first adopted," Kara says

"Yea... sorry about that" Alex responds

"It's okay, I still love you" Kara says and Alex smiles

We walked the rest of the 5 minutes in comfortable silence as Kara and I held hands ,

When we walked into the house everyone was decorating cookies and Jo and Emery were laughing as Eliza put icing on their noses,

"Kara! Lena" Emery smiles and comes over to us

"Are you having fun?" I ask and she nods

"Come look at the cookies!" She says and pulls Ali's along as Alex and Sam chucked behind us

"Wow, these are awesome you guys" Kara says

"Can I eat one?" Emery ask excitedly

"Of course" Eliza tells her and the girls start eating the cookies

"Kara doesn't let us have cookies" Emery tells her

"Kara" Eliza says playfully

"No we just don't let her eat all of them cause then she won't eat dinner" Kara defends herself

"You can have an many cookies as you want" Eliza says kissing emery's cheek

"We weren't allowed unlimited cookies" Alex says

"Yea" Kara agrees

"Girls shh" she smiles

"I see how it is" Alex says and we take our things upstairs

"We share a room while we're here so I would appreciate it if you could keep your clothes on" Alex says

"Alex!" Kara scolds and she laughs

Karas POV

After dinner I helped Eliza clean up while Lena went with the girls and got Emery some clothes out,

"How are the girls?" She ask me

"They are good, both doing well in school" I smile

"Have they started testing the boundaries yet?" She ask me

"What?"

"Kara, when you were adopted you did everything by the books, at first Alex would pick a fight and you would back off. But when you became more comfortable here, you would argue back and I remember one time you both going out late to some party" she tells me

"Is that what that was?" I chuckle

"At first they were both like that,  didn't argue back with us, well besides Jo whole sneaking out thing. But now it's like we have had them forever. They fight like sisters for sure" I smile and she does too

"That's how I knew you were comfortable here, sneaking out" she says and hits my arm

"I just worry I'm messing up" I sigh and she stops what she is doing and looks at me

"Kara Danvers. In no way are you messing up. Every parents feels as if they are at least once, The girls adore you and they love you. You walked into their lives at the right time and they walked into yours at the right time, An unplanned miracle. You are all good for each other" she says and I give her a hug

"Emery called me momma, and I felt as if my heart was going to burst" I chuckle

"I remember the first time you called me mom, I was so happy that you trusted me to keep you safe and love you forever" she says

"I love you Kara and I'm so proud of you" she tells me
