Chapter 40

Karas POV

We have been engaged for about 2 weeks now, I'm super excited to be marrying Lena, she is the love of my life and Bestfriend all in one,

Today Emery has a doctors appointment, only her first one since being with us. Lena was persistent on getting her into a private clinic and since it was her first time she would have to be on a waitlist, well today is the day

I'm thinking she is going to end up needing a shot or two which I'm not looking forward too.

Lena and I both took the day off and we promised Emery a toy if she did good at the doctors

We just dropped Jo off at school and we're heading to the doctors now

"When was your last time at the doctors?" Lena ask her

"I don't know. I had to get a shot! It hurt a lot. Please don't make me get a shot" she pouts from the back seat

"We'll see love" Lena says

"Mommy!" She whines and kicks her legs

"None of that, if you have to get a shot you will and we will go pick out a toy afterwards" Lena says

"But it's bad!" She says with tears in her eyes

"Hey, look at me" I say turning around in my seat

"If you need a shot I promise we will hold your hand the entire time" I say

"Promise?" She says and holds out her pinky

"Promise" I smile latching mine with hers

"But I'm not getting a shot"

We were sitting in the patient room now waiting on the doctor to come in. It took months to get an initial appointment so they better be good.

Emery was anxiously kicking her legs back and Forth as she sat on the bed and picking at her fingers, I could tell the whole getting a shot thing was getting at her

Lena must have noticed it too because she got up and walked over to Emery,

"Come here darling" she says and Emery reaches up for her and they sit back down next to me, Lena kept her arms wrapped around her and gently rocked back and forth making her calm down

Soon later the doctor walks in and Emery tenses up again

"Hi, I'm Dr. Solano, you must be Emery" she smiles and Emery doesn't move

"She's pretty nervous about the whole thing, we're not exactly sure how long it's been since she has been to the doctors" I explain and she nods

"Okay, well I will check her last medial history," she smiles

"Emery do you think you can come sit up here so I can look over you?" She ask and Emery shakes her head

"How about you sit on your moms lap and i just check a few things. It'll be super quick" she tries

"Can we do that?" Lena ask her and she nods against her chest so they stand up and sit down on the bed

"Perfect" she smiles and checks her head beat. In her ears and a few other odds and ends

"Is that all?" Emery asked

"We'll I got to see about last time you were at the doctors" Dr.Solano explains

"I'm not getting a shot" Emery pouts crossing her arms

"If you do it'll be really quick and you can have a lollipop after" the doctor tries again

"No! I'm not getting a shot! I hate the stupid doctors" Emery yells and gets off Lenas lap and comes over to me and the doctor excuses herself

"Emery Hope, I understand your scared but you can not yell at the doctor" Lena says

"I don't want to be here, I want to go home" she says starting to cry and I put her in my lap rocking back and forth just like Lena did earlier to call her down,

When the doctor came back in Lena and I had to step outside with  her so we could talk without alarming Emery

"So it's been almost 3 years since her last doctors visit, unfortunately she is due for 2 shots. Other than that everything seems to be perfect" she says and we sigh

"Okay, so we're doing them today?" Lena ask

"If that's alright with you," she says and we confirm and go back in the room to wait on the nurses with the shots

"She's going to freak" I whisper to Lena as Emery was distracted on my phone

"I know" she frowns

When the nurses came in with their cart Emerys eyes quickly looked over to it

"Momma! No" she cries dropping my phone and burying her head in my chest

"You can sit on my lap okay?" I say and she shakes her head

"We can do it right there" one of the nurses says and we nod as they get everything ready

"They have to go in each arm.... You might want to hold her a little" they say and I hug her tight to me as each nurse aligns up on each side of her, she was crying and kicking her legs which broke my heart watching her in this state, I had my own tears forming

"All done" the nurses says and they walk out of the room with Emery a sobbing mess in my lap

"Hey, you're alright, it's over they're done" I assure her and rub her back until she calms down, the doctor had came in and left and we were on the way out to the car while she still cried on my shoulder as I carried her out

"You want to get a toy?" Lena ask

"No!" Emery shoots back And I place my hand on Lenas thigh as we drove home,

When we got home Emery had fallen asleep in the back seat so I carefully carried her upstairs and Into her bed,

When I left her room I walked out to find Lena but she wasn't in the dining room

"Lena?" I say and walk into our bedroom and she was in the bathroom getting sick so I walked in to hold her hair back

"Getting sick" I sigh

"I've been vomiting for the past couple days now" she says and I frown,

When she finishes she washes her mouth out and we go out to the living room to relax until we had to go get Jo from school
