"Now," He tied my arms down with something itchy. Somewhat scratchy, like rope, "let's play a game shall we?" All I could see was darkness as my heart pounded in my chest. The sound of metal rubbing against metal, the sharp echo that follows and pierced your ears. I cringed at the sound and tugged my arms. "Let's make you a beautiful doll." His voice seemed to be coming closer, and I could feel the rush of tears fill my eyes. His hand rested over my right, and I bounded in fright. "When all the blood has gone from your veins, it should make your skin smooth and delicate as a cotton." Something cold and sharp made contact with my neck, and slowly slid downward towards the top of my chest. "I'll give you glass eyeballs the color of hazel." His voice reached my ear. "I'll make you look absolutely irresistible." As he said this, the sharp point was pressed into my neck, and I finally realized what was happening. With all my might, I screamed in terror.
"Madame!"
My eyes opened, and my heart felt as if it had stopped. I sat up quickly and found my left hand being squeezed tightly by his right. I looked at him as I caught my breath, our eyes locked. His other gently caressed my cheek and he grimaced. "You are too chilled." His thumb swept gracefully under my eye, and my hands shook. "Sebastian," I called and he pulled the strands of my hair from over my forehead. "Are you all right?" He asked and began pouring me tea. I watched him, nodding. He handed me the tea cup, and I stared at the light purple color.
Grape.
The sweet aroma of grape and honey surrounded me, my eyes closed. It was my first nightmare this month, and I couldn't forget it. Every second, every heart wrenching moment was lodged into my mind. I was frightened half to death. It was too much for me to bear. "Jae," Sebastian called my name, and I opened my eyes, "please be careful." The tea cup that I was holding had spilled onto the floor and onto my hands, and Sebastian gave me a worried expression. I couldn't stop shaking, and I quickly grabbed a hold of his tailcoat and whispered, "Sebastian, I thought..." He dried my hands and sat beside me on the sheets. "You are fine, I'm sure of it." Sebastian assured me, and I quickly pulled him into an embrace. My body began shaking from fright, and I closed my eyes. "I thought I was dead! It seemed so real." I felt his hand stroke my hair softly, and he rested his head on mine. Having Sebastian hold me like this made me calm down, and I held him tightly. Honestly, I was hoping he'd hold me like this forever. For only an instant, I felt as if I was being protected by him; a demon. Sebastian suddenly pulled away from my hold and stood before me.
"Come, Jae," he held his hands out to me, "We must get you ready for the day."As I made my way down the seemingly endless hall, Sebastian and Maiden Rose tagged along. I kept my eyes forward, trying to forget the horrifying night. I picked up my pace a little, and seeming to get the hint, Sebastian called out to me, "Jae, please calm down." But I couldn't. I couldn't stop thinking about it. It was confusing at how I was so frightened by a little nightmare, but my heart continued to pace and matched my steps. "Jallerie!" Sebastian called me by my full name, and I turned to the both of them. "Pardon me, Madame," Maiden Rose spoke up,"but did you hear what we explained?" My face went hot, and I sighed in shame.
"I'm sorry. I may have tuned you out."
Maiden Rose smiled, and Sebastian closed his eyes, sighing.
"Madame," Rose began, "our visitor for today is Lady Madeline Harland, the owner of Loveless' Perfume Corporation. She's sold four thousand products and thirty five packages over the year."
"All right. Sebastian, make her tea and Maiden Rose-"
"Madame! Madame!" Maiden Denise ran over in a hurry and tried to catch her breath. Her dress was covered in dirt and her bonnet was tainted, turning her hair into frizzy bun.
"Maiden Denise," Sebastian called, "Whatever is the matter?""Lady Matilda is missing!"
