Chapter 36: Going in Circles

Sebastian's POV:

Jae was still shaking, even in my arms. I slept next to her for the rest of the night, hoping she'll stop shaking. Her arms are still shaking violently. I noticed how she was making horrified facial expressions in her sleep and lightly kicking her legs. I softly stroked her arm, and she calmed down just a bit. It seemed as of she was in a nightmare and couldn't wake up. I wonder if she's having a dream about the possessing spirit, named Christopher. The scene she described earlier seemed quite gruesome. Suddenly Jae reached an arm into the air with her hand open and she screamed. "No! Christopher!!"

I had my hand in the air, and I opened my eyes. Sebastian was looking at me in surprise and my breathing was ragged. Sebastian gently grabbed my hand that was raised into the air and laid it at my side. "Jae?" He called. "He...he hu-..." I had a nightmare and Christopher was the one being killed. He wasn't killed by anyone, only himself. "He..." I couldn't say anything. Sebastian rubbed my arm gently and hushed me quietly. "Calm down.... You were just dreaming.." His soft voice reached my ear and my heart raced. Did he sleep next to me the whole night? The sunlight suddenly seeped through the window and brightened the room. I looked at Sebastian, and he smiled at me. "Are you alright?" He asked. I looked around at the room and calmed my heart rate down. "Yes." I replied. "Sebastian..." Sebastian's eyes glowed red at the sound of his name. "I order you to-"

"Jae!" Anthony came through the door in a hurry. Maddie came in also with Sebby in her arms. "Daniel's missing!" Maddie called. Sebastian got out of the bed and fixed his suit. I blushed as I buttoned up my gown. "How did he just disappear!?" I asked. "I don't know!" Maddie said and she began to look at her surroundings carefully. "Don't worry," I ran over to her and placed my hands on her shoulders. "He's not after the women. But..." I suddenly looked at Sebastian. His eyes fixed on Anthony. Anthony pulled me close and frowned at Sebastian. "Jae I can't let you stay next to this demon!" He said, and I froze. He knew!? "How do you know that?" I asked and pulled away from him. Anthony looked at Maddie, who was looking down in shame. "I couldn't hold it in.." She blushed and rubbed Sebby's head. "Sebastian won't hurt me, Anthony."

"But he'll take your soul!"

"He has to, it's my choice!"

"I won't allow it! How could you make a contract with your soul at stake? And for some stupid thing like revenge-"

I slapped Anthony and tears ran down my face. He stood in shock as Maddie gasped. "Jae!" Maddie called and I walked over to Sebastian. "I'm sorry, Anthony," I said, "But getting revenge is not stupid to me. If your family was constantly disappearing, you'd want to find the one behind it as well." I wiped my tears from my face. I can't focus on this!!

Maybe there was some fight over me that I didn't know about? Of course not! I'm not in some love triangle! I need to focus! Christopher was on the loose with Daniel's body taken over. If he was after men who were around me, maybe Anthony was his next target. "Sebastian,"

Sebastian's eyes glowed red and his lips curled into a smile.

"Protect Anthony until all this blows over." I ordered.

Anthony frowned in anger and Sebastian sighed. He turned to me and bowed. "Yes, Madame Jae."

Anthony huffed and looked at me. "I don't need protecting!"

"Anthony!" I screamed his name and my voice echoed through the room. "Just please, Anthony." I begged. Anthony sighed and bowed, mocking Sebastian. Sebastian smiled devilishly as if enjoying the mockery. "Now, if you don't mind, I have to get dressed." I turned to Maddie and she nodded. "Alright." She said and walked out of the room. Anthony frowned at us and I rolled my eyes. If he wouldn't leave, then I didn't care. I sat on the bed and Sebastian unbuttoned my gown. Anthony finally gave in and stomped out of the room, completely furious. "What a stubborn man..." I complained.

"Aren't you stubborn?" Sebastian asked remembering my words. I blushed, not thinking he would remember. "That's different.." I mumbled angrily. He smiled while pulling off my gown. His gloves were soft and a little cold as he touched my skin. I stood up, and he began to lace a black corset around me. After tying the corset in place, he helped me into a blue dress. He rolled my left stocking up my left leg and I smiled. The stocking was tickling my skin, and I couldn't hold back my giggles. "Jae?" Sebastian called and I blushed as he looked up at me with a beautiful smile. "I'm just ticklish, it's nothing." I said holding back my laughs. He continued to roll up my stocking as I covered my mouth.

Sebastian's POV:

Jae was smiling again. That's good news. I could hear her voice as I rolled up the right stocking on her leg. Things have been tough for Jae, yet she still carries on. If Anthony hadn't told her already, she was a strong woman. As I slipped her left foot into her heel shoe, she began to speak. "Are you upset that I ordered you to keep an eye on Anthony?" I paused for a few seconds but fitted her right foot into the other shoe. I looked up at Jae and smiled. "Of course not. It is my job to follow your orders." She smiled as her eyes glistened from the light. I happen to think Jae isn't looking for a lover, for she knows her life is limited. "Sebastian," Jae called, and I looked at her as she stood in front of me.

"What do you think of me?"

I froze at her question and thought for a moment. "I think you're a smart and cunning woman. I admire your strength as well."

Sebastian was saying wonderful things to me, and I dropped my head down. "Jae?" Sebastian called my name and tears fell upon the carpet. I smiled through my tears and looked up at his handsome face. A demon was complimenting me. "How can you say such beautiful things?" My voice trailed off, and I bursted into tears. Sebastian grabbed my chin and raised my head up. He gently wiped my wet face and smiled at me. "What I say is completely true. Always." Sebastian's words made more tears fall from my eyes and dripped onto his hands. I hugged him, and I felt him tense up but embrace me as well. This was the first time Sebastian hugged me like this. Then Anthony came into my mind. Why was he in my mind at this time? I remember Anthony holding me like this when Matilda left. Why am I remembering? "You are quite interested in Anthony, yes?" Sebastian asked and I pulled away from his embrace. I felt cold suddenly without him holding me. "I'm not..."

"Do you not think of how he feels?"

"..Yes but that's not a reason of me being interested in him.."

"I see."

I heard a small sound at the door, and I went to open it. Sebastian suddenly tackled me as the door swung open. I fell to the floor and opened my eyes. Sebastian was hovering over me and my heart raced. Maddie was the one who swung the door open and nearly hit me. "Jae, are you alright?" Sebastian asked. I looked into his eyes that were now glowing. He looked seriously worried for me. "I'm fine..thank you Sebastian." I said. He smiled at me, and our faces were a few inches close. I blinked to reality and smiled. "Sebastian.." I called his name. He received the message and helped me up from the floor. Maddie blushed as she saw us. "Sorry! Was I interrupting!?" she looked like she was in a horror movie. "No! No, why? What's wrong?" I asked. "Anthony left the manor! I couldn't stop him!" Maddie was speaking so loud that she frightened Sebby who came in with her. He scurried behind Sebastian's leg and his ears fell behind his head in fear. "What!? Why?" I asked. Maddie shrugged her shoulders.

"Sebastian." I called Sebastian's name and he bowed. "Yes, Madame Jae." After saying this, Sebastian disappeared from my side, and I turned to the worried Maddie. "Maddie calm down and grab your coat." I instructed and she nodded.

Soon Maddie and I were in a carriage heading to town. "Mei Rin told me the Sheriff informed her that another murder happened this morning." Maddie explained. "Another.." I stopped my sentence and realized it was Christopher.
