Matilda fell asleep in Maddie's arms as we sat quietly outside. The sun was setting amongst the hill, giving off a mixture of orange and red light. I rose my teacup to my lips, but stopped suddenly. I had too many thoughts on my mind at the moment. Just a few hours ago we were attacked and I couldn't focus on what I was doing. If there were thirty men coming here armed with guns to eliminate someone, who were they after? I can't help but to suggest that I was pulling Matilda deeper and deeper into danger. My heart ached at the thought of Matilda being taken away from me. She wasn't mine, but my heart just seemed so happy with her around. Maddie stood up with Matilda cradled in her arms. "I'll put her in my bed today, since it's getting late." Maddie said and headed into the manor. I sat my cup down against the small saucer and rubbed the cup's handle. I could see Sebastian in the corner of my eye, watching me closely.
"How long do you intend staying outside?" He asked.
"Until I feel like it." I replied and stuck my small spoon into the cup.
"I'm just worried that there still might be intruders close by."
I looked up at him, biting my bottom lip. If there were any more intruders, why would he let me be out here? Is he just following my orders because I'm his Mistress and he wanted me to be happy? "Sebastian."
He looked at me with shimmering red eyes. "Madame?"
"Why do you seem so overprotective when it comes to me? When I order you to do something even if it's nothing, why do you always follow it?" I asked and twirled the spoon between my index finger and thumb. "Because I am bound to you by our contract. Anything you wish will be granted, for soul is the prize of my loyalty." Sebastian spoke of this as calmly as possible and smiled at me. I felt my body grow numb at his words. My soul is his prize.
"Sebastian, tell me.." my voice trailed off and I tried to stop my leg from shaking. "Why did you get so angry when Claude.." I stopped mid sentence and stared at the teacup. Maybe asking that question would confuse him just like it's confusing me. I'm not sure about my feelings either. What Maddie said earlier, did I love him? It's been six years since we first met, and I couldn't really see his true self in the darkness, but every day I'm curious about the real him.
"Are you trying to ask me why I become angry if Claude touched you?" Sebastian spoke up and I blushed. It's exactly what I was trying to say.
"The reason is because you're my Mistress and if another demon is to touch you, I feel I am not doing my job." Sebastian came closer to my ear and began to whisper quietly. "If he does touch you again, I'll erase his mark, personally~." My heart began to race as he whispered into my ear. My face became hot. My mind raced with thoughts of what would happen. I was an idiot to think a demon would care about me like a normal human. "Sebastian, your faking-"
"Madame Jae!" Mei Rin interrupted me and ran over, stumbling clumsily over her footsteps.
"What is it, Mei Rin?" I asked. She fixed her glasses and her cheeks turned red. Her hands seemed to tremble from nervousness. "No need to be nervous, just tell me." I assured her and she smiled.
"There is a visiter from the town here to talk to you urgently." She said. "Something about being the father of Matilda."
My heart fell into my stomach and my face went blank. I walked quickly towards the front door of the manor and found a handsome man waiting or me. Along with him was Daniel's brother, Anthony. "Madame Jae." Anthony called and he smiled. "Hello. What do you need?" I asked impatiently. "I think you've found my daughter, Matilda." The man said. My heart raced and I felt my stomach lurch against my spine. He did look like Matilda by the eyes and hair. Possibly her father.
